My sister and I have just returned from a weekend's stay at the Lastra Farm Hotel, and it was simply wonderful.

We were placed in room 9, which is an annexe to the main hotel just a few metres further down the road. We were stunned upon entering; we had a lovely living area with double sofa bed, fireplace, mounted television on the wall and tea and coffee facilities. Around the corner was a bedroom area, complete with mounted television on the wall, mini fridge and bathroom.

Breakfast each day was lovely - with options of a full Welsh breakfast or salmon and scrambled eggs, along with a table in the dining room from which you could help yourself to cereals, fruit and nuts and a gorgeous selection of yoghurts, all made locally in the area.

We ate in the hotel restaurant on the second night of our two-night stay, and the food was amazing. My sister ordered the lamb shank, which was really tender, whilst I opted for the pork loin stack. It was difficult to choose our dishes because the menu looked so lovely.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone, and cannot wait to go and visit once again!

Room Tip: Ask for rooms 9 or 10, which are in an annexe and are exquisite - it's like having your own holiday cottage!

We had read a few reports, mostly good, about Lastra Farm. Never having been to Anglesey and other than a buying 2 night KGB deal we probably wouldn't have visited. Not having others to compare with I would still say it would be hard to beat this place. We were in the gatehouse, a small but spotlessly clean room (No 11) The bedding was crisp and white, the en suite gleaming. Having Travelled in the coldest March for some years the room was warm on arrival, and stayed warm. The heating didn't come on until 6:30am the next morning so early risers may feel it a little cool. The first afternoon we had a quick 'reccy' to find our bearings around Amlwch and soon found very little to do (especially on a cold day) and very few 'eateries in the area, this pushed us to staying in the Lastra Restaurant that evening. What a good piece of fate that turned out to be! The service is friendly and efficient, the dining area well set out and cosy. The food was as good as any, it was well presented, mouthwatering and good portion sizes, the prices are very reasonable. The (female) owner, sorry I didn't get her name, was always smiling and welcoming, always making you feel at home. At breakfast, again nothing too much trouble, the full English/Welsh wasn't the 'pile em' high' hotel chain meals, it was again well cooked and well presented. I would dearly love to go back, the only hesitation is the Island of Anglesey itself, not being walkers, dog owners (they are welcome here, but you wouldn't notice them) or 'Twitchers' there really isn't a lot to do (again when cold), although saying that Snowdonia, Port Meirien etc on the mainland are all within easy commute, South Stack Lighthouse is well worth a visit So, if you are going to Anglesey/ holyhead to Ireland you won't be disappointed if you stayed here! A top place!

Just returned from family owned Lastra Farm Hotel - owners take a pride in all aspects of their hotel and pay very close attention to detail. Extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful staff, great, locally sourced food, and lovely room with fantastic bathroom and shower (we stayed in the nearby gatehouse). Extremely clean and comfortable. Enjoyed very tasty, beautifully cooked dinners on both evenings and the best breakfasts we have had at a hotel in a long time. Lots of cycling and walking routes available (from Tourist office) - we did the 36 mile cyclists' Copper Trail on from the hotel, calling at working Lynnon Windmill, and two delightful nearby cliff walks. On the first we could see a derelict 19th century brickworks across the bay, and on the second managed to get down to it - well worth the effort. A thoroughly enjoyable break - these owners deserve to do well.

My wife and I stayed here this Easter after approximately 4 years since our first visit, we found it just as nice and friendly as the first visit.
The room was spotlessly clean and the bed comfortable.
The food was to die for. We had fish the first night and steak the second, all cooked to perfection.
The wine, by the way was first class.
We will definitely return for more of the same.

My husband and I have just had a fantastic weekend at the Lastra Farm Hotel. It was my birthday treat and it certainly didn't disappoint.Although the weather could have been better we couldn't fault the hotel and the staff were very helpful and courteous. The bedroom had everything we needed including a large tv which is nice considering some hotels have tvs which are so small they are difficult to see unless sitting underneath them!! We had evening meals on both days and the food was excellent, made to order and definitely not fast food.
