I am sorry to say that this is perhaps the worst museum I've ever been to. We knew it would be basic, but it could have been put together in an imaginative and interesting way. It was situated at the back of a dingy and dirty cafe, and consisted of just a few boards with obscure and text-heavy stories about the mines that weren't even interesting (even to the geologist amongst us). It wasn't even walking distance from the stunning scenery described on the website and we were given no instruction how to get there. The kids were bored and the staff were uninterested. Even on a budget it could have been made interesting, with perhaps colouring and games for the kids. Awful, don't bother.
