“Visit to museum”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2013

It is not very well sign posted so keep a sharp eye out. It is only a small museum, it explains well enough what you need to know. An informative film at the start takes about 10 mins which is well narrated. After you have been around the museum follow the B5111 for about 1 mile and you will come to a carpark, which is the start of the copper trail which will take you about an hour to walk which is very pleasant.

“informative museum”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2013

Informative museum in a beautiful location. Would love to have had more time to be able to wander some of the walking trails in the area, some interesting looking ruins as well as some great scenery.

I knocked off one point as it seems they are doing their best to keep this a secret as it is very poorly sign posted and neither the website or their brochures have useful maps for finding this site.

If you are in Anglesey you have to visit this wonderful place, I always go there and it never ceases to amaze me. The colours and the history are second to none. A must for all visitors to the Island.

“Worth a visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 27, 2013

This isn't a huge museum, but well worth the visit to see the effect the copper industry had on the area.

We paid £2.95 admission, so not a rip off and it was well worth the money.

The museum is set down at the port, which is still in use today and which was central to the copper production and distribution.

Go and visit - it's great for adults and children alike.

“Fascinating industrial archaeology and geology”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 24, 2013

Amlwch Copper Kingdom displays the history of copper mining in Amlwch, which once controlled the world market. The old opencast mine workings look almost like Mars, and have been used for a number of films, including 'Dr.Who, and has a heritage trail around them ( leaflet available in the car park on Parys Mountain). The recently opened Heritage Centre in Amlwch Port ( part of Copper Kingdom) has exhibits showing how the copper was mined. Whilst there, pop across to the Old Watch House, where Geomon, the Anglesey geopark, have a small centre giving a fascinating insight into the geology of the area, and also run guided walks through the holiday periods.
