Our second stay at this peaceful and tranquil cottage with lovely walks and sea views, fantastic local beaches highly recommend Tony’s pizza restaurant.
A bottle of wine on arrival, a perfect week away.
This is the forth time I have stayed here, so peaceful and relaxing . just walking the dog down the track with nothing but sheep and lambs to break the silence..
Everything you could wish for , the beach so close and the sea view from the cottage.
Sam, the manager of the cottage was extremely welcoming, communicative and amenable and apologised for the lane up to the cottage being a bit tricky due to a tree that had fallen in recent storms. She was awaiting the availability of a JCT to remove it. We carefully drove around it which was possible. Due to the decreased width of the lane due to the fallen tree she had been unable to use her trailer to put gravel down in the pot holes that are all the way down the lane but apologised for this. It was wet and the pot holes were quite deep with water, the lane was also very muddy. It was an off-roading experience, to be tackled very slowly, but I'm sure it will be repaired to a more acceptable state soon.
Sam also apologised for the bedding which had been laundered but had some marks on and she offered to change it for a fresh set.
The good features of the cottage are that its very quiet, just the sheep, birds and distant sea. Views lovely too but garden needs attention front and back as this detracts from the overall feel of the cottage. The underfloor heating in the cottage was very welcome as were the logs for the wood burner in the evenings.
The sofa in the lounge was old and uncomfortable and there were no soft cushions but Sam did say that they were awaiting a new one when the driveway was clear of the tree.
The location for us was super, not easy to walk to anywhere in wet weather you would need wellies or sturdy waking boots, but fine in dry weather, local amenities good, great to take your dog and enjoy a quiet break.
Myself, partner and our two pooches recently enjoyed another weeks stay here and once again enjoyed every minute. The weather was a bit grim but that made returning home and curling up after a trip out even more enjoyable. The addition of the log burner is brilliant and two boxes of logs were provided by the owner of the property (thanks Sam!) and once again a gift of a complimentary bottle of wine was left which is a nice touch. The Spar up the road sells bags of logs as does the hardware shop in Barmouth, Sam offered to cut us some more if we were stuck which was nice.
Would recommend Harlech beach, beautiful. Lovely beach at Dyffryn too but as we have an oldie he struggles to make it over the shingle/pebbles to the sand so have to carry him.
Will definitely be booking again for next year.
Just what we needed to start 2018 the cottage has everything we required and more (the wine was a lovely touch)
Storm Eleanor may have left us all wet and muddy from stretching the pooches legs down the lane on arrival and stopped our plans to get into the mountains but we still managed some long walks into Barmouth, around Harlech castle (also dog friendly) and out along the beach at Duffryn which was more than enough to wear out the dogs and give us all the more peaceful relaxing evenings infront of the lot burner.
Only issue is now the dogs now want underfloor heating for their beds to sit on at home.
Fabulous little cottage. Cosey and warm with a great enclosed garden for the dog. Very welcoming host and complimentary bottle of wine, I would definitely stay here again.
