“a wet week in barmouth”
Reviewed September 22, 2013

We returned yesturday from a weeks holiday here, we arrived to a warm welcome & clean van. very friendly staff .Our van was a 1 bedroom caravan was a bit small & wished we had gone for something larger, but was adequote for 2 people. Our van was just a base to sleep in, even when the weather was awful for the 1st few days. As a child i spent many happy holidays in the barmouth area, but never staying at sunnysands. only one or 2 niggles, we only had wifi in club or laundrette, we payed exta for it, but in caravan none. the new club is great, but a bit pricey, rum & diet coke £4, most club prices are a bit expensive, but ott. Although the staff were great, the older lady & the lovely down syndrome lady were lovely helpful & fun.

We private hired on this site so can't comment on the sites own caravans. Collecting the keys was very quick, we arrived as the office was opening and only had to wait a few minutes, reception staff were very efficient. Ours was really lovely and very comfortable - we definitely recommend (caravan 539) and had a brilliant holiday. The beach is beautiful, we spent many hours building sand castles and walking to the little ice cream parlour on the next site over. The kids had great fun winning tickets in the arcade and loved their 'prize' at the end of the week. The chip shop is actually cheaper than our local chippy and the chips were the best we'd ever had. The shop had everything you might need although, as usual, was slightly pricy - I'd advise a trip to the co-operative in Barmouth if you're on a budget. We didn't use the swimming pool but did go to the club almost every night, The kids loved Mr Stix and we enjoyed playing bingo even though its not something we would normally do, the drinks are very reasonably priced and although it gets busy, unlike some onsite clubs we've visited, we always found a table and could keep an eye on our boys. We went out a few times early in the week but ended up spending most of our time on site because the kids were happier there. We would definitely recommend this site and plan to go back in the future.

Room Tip: Search 'Barmouth-Wales caravan' on facebook - excellent caravan and very good price

After just returning from sunnysands I thought a review in order. I have visited this site many times in the past and always enjoyed it. So after a 20 year break I went back, and I was surprised at how big the site is now. The onsite shop has all your daily needs and the chip shop does some cracking chicken and chips for great prices, the cafe in my oppinion was a little but of a let down but the club gets very very busy and loud. All in all a wonderful week was had by myself and my family. The caravan was clean and tidy and staff were friendly. I recommend this site just a short drive from beautiful barmouth. And I recommend a trip to the blue lake just outside fairbourne in friog. I will be booking a trip to sunnysands again and suggest people try it for themselves.

This is a lovely little caravan site and so close to the beach, really would recommend for families, there's an arcade and a clubhouse on site if you want to stay near, couldn't fault it! The 6 berth is room enough and the location makes it great for days on the beach or popping out for a nice evening walk.

We private hired on the sunny beach caravan site. The site is brilliant entertainment is fantastic for kids and mr stix the magician is entertainment for kids and parents. The beach is beautiful and is a stone throw away from the site swimming pool is good for little ones but go in the morning as afternoon is busy. On site chippy is lovely and club house bar prices are very good. If you go here research what day trips you can do as there is a lot about but be willing to drive I recommend the slate mines and steam train. Will definitely be going again.

We chose a 4 berth sea view caravan for our week long holiday in August. Our little group was, myself, my husband, our son and his friend. The boys used the bedroom and my husband and I used the pull out bed in the living room area. Both were adequate and comfortable.
The caravan was very well equipped for a self catering holiday, with all the pots, pans and kitchen utensils you are likely to need. There was a small vacuum cleaner and other cleaning utensils, including a clothes drier. There was also a microwave cooker. In the living area there was plenty of seating and a satalitte television. Outside is a decked patio area with a table and 4 chairs.
The views were just amazing. The beach to the front and the mountain behind. Wonderful sunsets and cloud formations. The peace and quiet was perfect.
All the staff on site were very polite and helpful. The shop sold plenty of groceries, magazines, papers and pocket money priced toys and trinkets and was always clean. The chip shop had very tasty food and was good value for money. The children's meals were excellent value.
The amusement arcade was really good fun. You can win tickets and save them up to "win" prizes or just play the machines to win the prizes inside.
The indoor swimming pool was okay and had a lifeguard on duty.
All in all a perfect holiday we all enjoyed.

Room Tip: It's worth paying more for the sea view.

I have recently bought a caravan on this site. After reading a few negative comments i thought what have i done !!!!but my family and i have all been pleasantly surprised. Beautiful sandy beach. Lovely views of the small mountains behind. Good club house with all round family entertainment. Staff all friendly . Good chippy and cafe . Amusment arcade and indoor heated swimming pool. The icing on the cake for me was the beach bar. Few yards from the actual beach, outside decking open air or covered. It was like being abroad when we had the hot weather. Please dont hesitate to stay for a holiday here because i think you will be really surprised
