i took a disable person to sunnysands in may for a week end the caravan was well set out for this person nice big bedroon plenty of room for them to move around, nice site really but a bit out of the way, you need a car to go anywhere from there. club house was clean and tidy staff all very pleasant. as luck had it we picked a sunny weekend to go, when talking to some of the people there they live on site. so from our point of veiw it was a nice place to stop as long as you dont want to go far.

Booked a touring caravan pitch for a week in August at Sunnysands as all the other local sites were either booked or too expensive, so our expectations were not too high. However what we found was a clean and well equipped site, adjacent to a wonderful beach, with very good facilities including a cafe, a chippy (both serving very good food until midnight), a clubhouse with a great selection of drinks at very reasonable prices (cheaper than our local) and a decent swimming pool and kids play area.

The only downside was the basic shower block and the unfriendliness of the reception staff on arrival and departure (No pleasant welcome or friendly goodbye).

Will definitely return and recommend to others.

A good number of years ago, my parents used to bring us on family holidays to Sunny sands. I always remembered it as a great place full of happy memories. So now older with my own family, in recent years we have come back to Sunny sands several times. The site itself is very clean, the caravans are not new, but nonetheless are in good working order. We always have a caravan with a sea view, and this is the perfect setting to enjoy a wonderful relaxing holiday. On site facilities include a family clubhouse with regular entertainment, a swimming pool, on site shop and a fish and chip shop which has the best chips! our caravan had a great balcony overlooking the sea, complete with table and chairs so that you can make the most of the stunning views. This year we have had 2 UK holidays and on arriving at a similar facility elsewhere in the country, although what was on offer was pretty much the same and couldn't be complained about, I can honestly say that the friendly, home-like atmosphere of Sunny Sands really does make a holiday here very special. We love SunnySands, and always look forward to returning!

You'd pay an awful lot more to stay at other sites in the area with the setting and facilities that Sunnysands has. The caravans are a bit older but if you match your expectations to your budget you shouldn't be disappointed.
Inside our caravan was well equipped. We were quite near the club house but were not disturbed by the noise . The cleaning / deposit thing gives a poor impression when you check in but the staff were very nice. We reported a few minor issues with the caravan on day 1, solely because of the deposit issue but the staff were pleased to be told and dealt with everything promptly. We had no problem getting our deposit back and did not feel that housekeeping were looking for ways to retain it.
The food from the on site fish and chip shop was very nice and the staff were really friendly even though they were very busy. The site shop also had nice staff and had lots of little souvenirs and toys for proper pocket money prices.
The club was much like others we've been too and no charge to get in. Not too expensive on the children's pop which is where you often get ripped off (70p for a bottle of lemonade). There is an adults only bar with Sky sports and they were happy to put a game on for my husband. In the family family bar. Mr Stix was really good on the Friday. Our 7 and 4 year old grandchildren loved his show, a bit of games, dancing and balloon animals with little prizes for all of them. I was a bit sceptical about the balloon kits on sale afterwards for £4 but it was actually very good quality, I paid similar at Christmas for a kit that we couldn't make anything out of.
We hope Mr Stix is paid a lot more than the poor excuse for a DJ on Sunday. The DJ appeared only to have about 3 tracks which he played incessantly and very loudly while dragging adults onto the stage for games even though he'd called all the children down to the dance floor. Some of the adults were clearly very drunk and the games included getting some particularly drunk people to hula while drinking pints of water. When the kids disco finally re-started he just played the same 3 records again, gangnam style, YMCA and cha cha slide but this time on extra extra loud. Nearly suicidal we left as the karaoke got underway, first song up...Gangnam style, LOUD! Terrible and at times inappropriate.
The site has a really nice pool and an excellent lifeguard who was firm but friendly even though rushed off his feet. The changing rooms were a bit messy as a lot of pool changing rooms are that have a lot of children passing through. However it could have stood someone doing a regular clean / flushing the toilets etc.
The sandy beach had fantastic views and good rock pools. In the sea the waves are quite strong for little folks but good for the older children to try body boarding. There were loads of dogs using the beach and many were off leads. We'd found a quiet patch but several times had dogs, including some quite big ones, coming too close to the children for comfort and the owners were often too far away to control them. Even when on a lead some of the owners beggared belief, one bloke with a dog on a short lead, still let his dog cock its leg right by our buckets and spades on the children's sandcastle. This is not Sunnysands responsibility, it is a public beach and it could easily be sectioned off as they do where we live.
So only the whole excellent value for money and we would return if an area of the beach was made dog free.

Room Tip: Don't book a caravan adjacent to the access road, middle row is best to avoid night time noise f...

We had rented a caravan from a private owner and were told to arrive at 2pm to collect the keys. When we arrived we had to queue for around 1/2 an hour to get the keys. We had to pay £40 for our pass, we were told we would receive £10 back on departure. We also purchased a £10 wifi card for the week to use at the caravan. The site itself is very dated, the caravans are generally old vans and the facilities are basic, shop, fish and chip shop and the Horizons club for the dodgy karaoke! The only good thing about the site is where it is, it is right on a great patch of beach and with the right weather it is just lovely. The kids could play in the water no problem. This site is predominately full of brummies and dogs. The wifi card we ourchased was useless - I took it back after a day and was accused of lying about not being able to access the internet, but after speaking to the site owner I was given a refund. I was then told that there is free wifi in the Horizons club, I tried to use this on my laptop for work but was unable to use it successfully either. On the whole we were saved by the weather - Barmouth is a lovely seaside town to visit but I won't be planning on visiting Sunnysands again.

Arrived twenty mins before the 2 pm key allocation time and was abruptly told come back at 2pm by Yvonne who seemed to have a severe lack of customer relation skills. Went back at 2.15pm to be given an envelope containing a list of what was expected of us as far as cleaning the caravan for an inspection on the last day. £40 was taken from us and we were told anything missing or broken would be taken from our £40. If all was ok we would get it back after the inspection. Basically they have no cleaners so you clean it for the next person or your deposit is gone.
I thought the envelope would also contain a site map and info on the pool etc but it didn't, there was nothing about the facilities.
First impressions walking round to the caravan is its like being on a live set of a brummy based version of the Jeremy Kyle show.
Tattoos, gold and leggings are the order of the day.
Got into caravan and it was a bit tired but looked clean, obviously the last occupants worked hard to get their £40 back.
People in next caravan were residents and were very loud and shouty. They had a pack of kids running round and we thought 'what have we let ourselves in for?'. We decided then to only use the place to sleep and spend all our time off site and that's what we did.
Dreadful site but Barmouth beach and town was really good.
Last day came and we had to go through a check list of jobs from the envelope. Never have we seen anything like this before. Inspectors turn up at 11 and make you wait outside whilst they check your cleaning and make sure all items are still in there. They bring one toilet roll for the next occupants, take the key and hand you a signed ticket so you can get your £40 back at reception.
Then the whole process start again with the next guest.
My advice, pay a little more and steer well clear.

I have read the reviews and was quite apprehensive about our trip to sunnysands, quite frightened by the prospect of bumping into feral kids, chavy brummies etc! The caravan park is perfectly situated, a short stroll to the gorgeous beach, the staff in reception were friendly and very helpful as were the staff in the shop. The only problem I had was with a man that had learning difficulties pestering my daughter in the swimming pool. My daughter (13) was petrified as he was being rude and totally inappropriate. The life guard was very good when I complained and the man was banned from using the pool whilst children were in there. As for chavy brummies? Being a brummie myself i can only say most of the people are actually Black Country not brummies lol
