I stayed here in July with my young family and I really was not disappointed.
The directions were easy to follow and we were greeted by the lovely, friendly owner who briefly showed us the house before leaving us to it.
The house is beautifully presented (even better than the photos portray). It feels like a real home rather than just something thrown together for a holiday let. I particularly liked the calm and spacious bathroom and the large double at the front of the house. There's plenty of nice crockery, knives and pans plus helpful extras such as a slow cooker, basic condiments, matches and washing up liquid etc. Also heaps of fluffy towels, soap, tea towels and toilet roll.
Regarding suitability for young children we found it pretty well appointed. The owner had provided a high chair and some children books which was a lovely touch. The garden is enclosed which is very helpful although there is a sharp corner on the raised patio just to be aware of. There is a bath that is easy enough to bathe the kids in. There are open fires but obviously we didn't have these lit. You can park on the drive adjacent to the property but just to be aware agin, the road outside the house is quite busy. The main front bedroom has plenty of space for a travel cot (provided). We did squeeze a second into the back bedroom although it looked a little less elegent! There isn't a stair gate.
We found the location great. A few minutes drive to Barmouth in one direction and Harlech in the other. You can walk to a quiet local beach with sand dunes. It's about 30minutes walk down a country lane with no pavement. It's a brief drive however with a carpark and toilet block close to the beach. There is a pub with a play area a couple of minutes walk away that serves great food including children meals. Check out the little farm park too on the way to Harlech if you have kids - doesn't look much to start with but we spent two busy half days there in the soft play, feeding the goats and playing with the water cannons. Talybont train station is walking distance if you are arriving without a car.
If you plan to eat in, it's worth noting that Tesco deliver here!
We booked through Lounge Holidays who we found to be helpful and efficient.
We had our summer holiday at bwthyn henmor mawr, tal y bont and we had a fantastic stay! It was a real home from home. Every comfort had been thaught of and provided by the very lovely owner. There were enough tv's and internet access to keep the kids happy and was only a stones throw from barmouth, harlech and lots of beautiful beaches. The cottage was well presented, clean and comfortable. We are definately going back next year. Hopefully for 2 weeks! Cant wait for our 2018 summer holiday.
Lovely, clean welcoming house with well-equipped kitchen and nice garden. A real home away from home. We had a wonderful time. Barmouth is a beautiful area.
We had an excellent Christmas break at Henborth Mawr Cottage. The owner had taken great care to prepare everything for us and the house was immaculately presented. We were met by the owner who made us feel very welcome and at home. She was very helpful and provided us with a generous and well thought out seasonal welcome pack. The house was warm and beautifully decorated for Christmas.
All aspects of the house ensured our stay was hassle free and enjoyable. We had no difficulty cooking Christmas dinner with all the trimmings.
We found the surrounding area fascinating and even the weather was kind to us.
I cannot recommend the house highly enough. I
