“Fantastic little break”
Reviewed October 29, 2012

We stayed at the estuary lodge late October 2012.
We booked through KGB so were prepared for the luke-warm greeting you can sometimes expect when booking through a voucher site on the cheap, Well, We couldnt have been more wrong!
Made to feel very welcome by the entire family, warm friendly welcome, fantastic food (Homemade chicken and bacon pie was spot on) great local knowledge and advice, good size clean rooms (own fridge, FRESH milk, bottle opener with corkscrew already in room, comfy bed, DVD player and DVD's selection that was actually worth watching!)

The set up of the lodge is great, Like an upmarket american motel, you can come and go as you please and the location is an ideal base for many days out.

Again we had a great time and hope to visit again in the future.

Thanks guys, Luke and Emilee

We had a 2 night stay at the Estuary Lodge last week with our dog. The owners and staff could not have been more friendly. The room was perfectly adequate for our needs and was extremely clean. Although Talsarnau itself may not be the most picturesque of villages, the hotel is located very centrally for local gems such as Harlech and Beddgelert. I would definitely recommend Estuary Lodge as a good place to stay.

We recently stayed at Estuary Lodge and mine and my fiance's weekend could not have been more perfect! An extremely warm welcome as we checked in, walked to our room and showed us around. The room was very clean, very spacious and very luxurious! We booked this holiday through a KGB deal then upgraded to a superior room for an extra £30. Food on an evening and morning was beautiful, staff all day every day were very helpful and the service was top notch! I would highly recommend this place to anybody, whatever break you are looking for. Will definitely stop here again.

My unwarranted prejudice was completely destroyed by the total care and unselfishly welcoming attitude of this family run hotel. My wife and I enjoyed our three night stay immensely and will do our very best to return at some future time. The room was spotless, the greeting was excellant, the food perfect and the overall stay was just what we needed at the time,
Thank you Grant and family, it was very good!

Room Tip: Our room was number 6. and the fact that we parked directly outside the room was a real bonus.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights during October 2012 on the first night we came into the hotel quite late however Grant was more than happy to let us check in and show us around to our room. Even though the kitchen had closed he offered to get something arranged for our dinner thankfully we had already had our dinner prior to arriving at the hotel. When we were shown to our room, room 10, we were surprised as it was much nicer than what we had anticipated for what we had paid. It was a very spacious room, with a mini fridge (almost non existent in hotels now), which had a small freezer compartment as well - together with a personal microwave and a pint of fresh milk. This was on top of you usual tea/coffee facilities provided by them - which also had hot chocolate for all the non tea drinkers.

The hotel has a brilliant DVD library of over 200 DVD's - we initially thought they would just have some old DVD's but we were surprised to see that they had all the new releases - the DVD library was free to use. The next day I had a full English breakfast which was made perfectly. You also had the option of brilliant juices which were not cordial as other hotels but proper juices from innocent. They also had fresh fruit, muffins, cereals anything you wanted really. Grant was more than happy to go through our planned itin and advise us accordingly. After a long day out of climbing mount snowdon when we came back we decided to have dinner at the hotel. Once again everything was made to perfection - I had the mushroom and leek crumble and my partner had the seabass - the best bit by far though was the creme brulee - the best creme brulee I have tasted - ever.

The bathroom was amazing - the hotel had even provided a lil sewing kit, ear bud cleaners, talcum powder, hair spray you name it and they had supplied.

Rooms had been cleaned every day - and the rooms had a very informative little booklets prepared by Alison and Grant giving us the heads up to local walks etc and the welsh language etc.

The hotel itself is worth a visit down this end of the woods!!

Room Tip: Go for room 10!!

Initially booked a 3 night stay at the lodge - however, after walking into the room - we asked the owner if we could stay an extra!

Room was spotless and had every amenity possible - even down to a pot containing a mini sewing kit, cotton buds and other cotton wool products. Complimentary biscuits, teas/coffee/hot chocolate in the room. I thought the room was very well decorated, very plesent indeed.

Breakfast each morning was amazing. Food was well cooked and a decent amount was offered. Again, a wide variety of items - toast, sausages, bacon, beans, mushrooms etc. Also had cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurts etc. We also dined here at evening and was again more than happy with our chosen dishes.

Location is excellent, a reason we chose this accommodation. Easy to get to loads of places in a car and lots of good walking areas around.

Staff were all lovely. I can't understand the negative comments about the 'female owner'. On every occassion I met with her she was very nice. The two lads (one served breakfast and the other cooked) were really friendly and always made me and my boyfriend laugh with their cheery "Hello, Hello" welcome every morning. Their dog is also really cute ;)

I would definately reccommend this place, and wouldn't hesitate in going back again myself.
