“Ideallic for familys in a very remote, safe, relaxing home”
Reviewed July 6, 2012 for a stay in June 2012

We had an amazing time here at Hen Gapel, the cottage was clean and very well kept. There is lots of space for the children with the games room featuring a wii, surround sound system (excellent for films), flat screen t.v, sky and also which our children loved a pool table. also an amazing mountain view. Bedrooms upstairs were a good size and very clean with the larger bedroom also having an amazing mountain view. There is also an upstairs bathroom which is well decorated and spacious.
Downstairs is a very well equip kitchen with all you could want to cook with. Lovely addition to this was the touch screen hob and oven. Dining area is large with a big table to accommodate all of us and was my favourite part of the house because it is a good social space even if you are cooking. The living area was lovely and spacious a beautiful woodburner. lovely french doors opening to the garden. There was also a bathroom with a bath and a adult bunk bed room which were all very nice and clean there is a bedroom with ensuite which also was a very nice area.
The garden was well kept and a bbq, benches and table and chairs could be used. Beautiful sunsets can also be seen from the top part of the garden.
Also there is a separate laundry room to do all your washing in ( very important for families)
Tranquil and relaxing this holiday home is something I would recommend. Beautiful mountain views and birds song in the morning and at dusk this holiday cottage is really something special to see.

“Great location but customer care poor”
Reviewed May 26, 2012 for a stay in May 2012

The house is in a wonderful location. Slightly disappointed with the overall condition of the property, although some of the modern parts of the house are light with good facilities and views.

Main issue was that we heard rodents in the roof of our bedroom (no problem - the location is rural, although there were a number of large holes in the skirting boards so we were rather concerned) but on our third night mice came into the bedroom so we vacated it for the sofa in the living room.

In the morning we found mice droppings on the bed and informed the owner immediately. The owner seemed rather unconcerned, suggesting that they were probably "only field mice" but said someone would come the following day to lay traps. Fortunately part of our party were leaving anyway so we could shut off the room and hope the mice would not appear anywhere else in the house.

The owner arrived to lay traps and, surprisingly, made no attempt to clean up the mouse droppings or clear away the dirty linen.

We asked the owner for some sort of compensation for the spoiled holiday as we had had three disturbed nights but, apart from the offer of a bottle of wine (which we rejected) none was forthcoming. This was despite the fact that we had only used the property for part of the week.

At £629 for a week in May, I consider this an expensive property and therefore expected much more, particularly in terms of attention from the owner when things went wrong.

Management Response
May 25, 2012
Thank you for your review and we were so sorry to learn of the problems you encountered. Having spoken to the owner of Hen Gapel we understand that as soon as they were alerted to the possibility of mice being in the property, that they acted immediately to try to rectify to your satisfaction. As the property is set in a rural location then there is a chance that field mice could enter the roof of the property however the owner has confirmed that they have never caught or seen any mice in Hen Gapel. We confirm that we have not had any other feedback of this nature and the owners look forward to welcoming all future guests with the assurance that if they have any problems whatsoever they will be addressed immediately.
