The hotel was lovely the village was beautiful and the staff were very nice. We stayed in Chantry Row 1 the room was perched on a hill overlooking the town. There was a great pool which was heated during Summer months. The staff were nice and very helpful.

Room Tip: Get a room on a hill for a great view

We have just returned from spending 2 nights here for our 20th Anniversary. We had booked the Penthouse suite in the Castel but on entering the room we were faced with a very overpowering smell of burning wood. On closer inspection we found that the chimney was just above our patio and it was spewing out smoke from the fire in reception. Anyway to cut a long story short we were moved down into the village. The management were very responsive, immediately. The cottage they gave us was called Villa Winch. A two bedroom 2 bathroom very very lovely special little cottage. Beautifully decorated in Designer Orla Keily paper and furniture of which I recognised immediately. They even sell one or two of her things down in the village in the gift shop. Spotlessly clean. We ate in the hotel, we were given complimentary champagne for our troubles on the first evening. The meal was exceptionally good. Breakfast too was very tasty. We had a lovely stay after the initial disappointment and we thank the management, they were brilliant. The village is somewhere you have to visit at least once in your lifetime. Put it on your bucket list!
Thank you to all the lovely helpful and friendly staff and what a lovely place you have to work in.

I am glad that you enjoyed your stay at Portmeirion following your initial disappointment with the Penthouse suite. The Villa Winch suites were upgraded and fully refurbished only two years ago, and they do offer a great space to stay.

I very much look forward to welcoming you back to Portmeirion again

We love love love Portmeirion. We have stayed in 4 cottages on a self catering basis - Angel, Telfords Tower, White Horses and Government House. Loved them all. We prefer self catering as we like our privacy and being able to work to our own timings. The cottages are all fab and we want to stay in them all eventually then we will start on the village hotel suites though we wish they were all self catering.
We're having withdrawal symptoms because unfortunately we can no longer afford to stay in the cottages. prices have spiralled and were not cheap to start with. We've always booked late to get a good price but can't even afford that any more.
We have always gone with young children and although its not geared up for them the kids have always had a lovely time, lots of fun exploring. A stunning part of Wales and loads of places to go and things to do if you can tear yourself away from the village.
We love the town hall restaurant, friendly staff, great meals and good value for the generous portions.
The only negatives are the Wi-Fi is next to useless, the price, the unpredictable weather (have had lovely weather 3 times out of 4 and the other time it was dreadful) The village is just magical and very special, totally unique. So much better after the day visitors have left too.
If I came into money would spend all summer there.
I WANT TO GO BACK NOW!

Room Tip: The cottages are fab, go self catering (or choose a village suite). Telford's Tower, Angel, Whit...

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments regarding your stay with us earlier in the year. I see that you have stayed with us in a number of our cottages, and hopefully getting ready to try another one. We have over the past couple of years been investing in improving the standard and facilities of our self catering cottages, and last winter we invested in refurbishing, Gate House, Belvedere, White Horses and Government House.

I very much look forward to welcoming you back to Portmeirion again very soon, and you might have the opportunity to try a different cottage

Be seeing you...

We stayed here for our wedding anniversary and it was perfect..
On arrival, we were greeted at the gatehouse and directed to reception. When we got down to reception our paperwork was waiting for us and we were shown the way to our village room. We stayed in Upper Trinity which had the most wonderful view on to the main gardens and was a gorgeous clean and spacious suite. We spent a while looking around and enjoying Portmeirion before dinner at the Castell. Very nice meal here and then back to the village, the magic about the village is that after the day visitors leave, it just feels like your home. Walking through the peaceful gardens at night was gorgeous.
Breakfast next day was down in the hotel and the service was faultless. A choice of hot or cold items with the hot food cooked to order. As the sun was still shining then we stayed in the village and enjoyed one of the free guided tours before sadly heading home.
Can't wait to visit and stay again... Amazing hotel and village to stay in...

Room Tip: If you can, book a village room... It really is something else waking up and looking out at Portmeir...

We stayed for 3 nights for my friends 50th (she had been a few times before). We had 2 nights in the very cute "Dolphin" house before moving to the main hotel for one night.

It was very picturesque & staff were all friendly but, there wasn't a great deal to do. Why were there no cute coffee shops & home made cakes, nowhere nice to have a glass of wine. So much could have been done here but it seems they've given up.

For the birthday night we asked for a nice table in the hotel & they'd forgotten even though we'd emailed in advance. The hotel itself needs some love, the furniture was tatty, no atmosphere in the bar etc.

Overall we had fun but were disappointed over what we paid. No need to return for sure.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your stay, I am very disappointed that your experience did not live up to your expectation of a stay at Portmeirion.

Portmeirion has a Caffi Sgwar, which is a small coffee shop that serve coffee and cakes, Caffi Glas, which is an Italian Pizzeria, that serve some light Italian dishes, and serve wine and Prosecco, as well as Angel Ices, which is our own Gelateria in the Village, serving ice cream as well as wines and Prosecco. I am therefore not sure why you felt that there was no coffee shops in the village, or anywhere to have a glass of wine.

I can assure you that we have not given and are always looking to improve on the offering available. We are in process of planning a refurbishment of the Town Hall self service restaurant this winter, as well as investing in some accommodation. I am certain that should you return you will see these improvements taking shape, and have a more enhanced experience in the Village.

I very much hope we do have the opportunity to welcome you back

Regards
