“Good, but could be better”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2014

Service was good and polite, the interior pleasant and setting lovely. Food was slow to arrive given the moderate number of diners present. Portion size was of the 'nouvelle cuisine' variety - i.e. disappointingly small, but tasted very good (the main courses at least). The dessert menu was limited and rather bland. We selected treacle tart with orange sorbet, but struggled to discern the presence of any treacle or orange. I have to say also that the tables for two are not quite big enough for two with wine, glasses, water jug and plates.

All in all the impression was that it was a pleasant place to eat, but over-priced for what you get.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 2, 2014 via mobile

This place rely does tick all the boxes for me today.... Lovely silver service trained staff...or it certainly felt like that !!, the food came well on time and was very proportioned ....tasted fantastic .... Looked brilliant ... I had tomato soup for starter and sausage and mash for main...both where brilliant ... The management of this place have everything running perfectly well done...the food very well priced and above all you get free entry instead of paying £10 each as we had 2 course's each equaling only £30 a real bargain go and do this with the lunch a true bargain great food and free entry all in BRILLIANT !!!!

“Beautiful venue, very nice food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 30, 2014

I went here for Sunday lunch with my family. The venue and the setting are both beautiful, the dining room/conservatory is lovely and it backs on to a really nice garden with views of the beach. The service was also faultless, with a lot of friendly and capable staff.

Sunday lunch was £17.50 for two courses and £22.50 for three. Both included a ticket to Portmeirion itself which is actually very good value. The food was nice, very good roast meat and generous portions, well worth a visit.

“Lovely food in lovely surroundings”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2014

We've eaten at the Portmeirion hotel in the village, and at its best it can be superb, but have never tried its sister hotel just outside the village. It's an imposing building and the interior is amazing. The lunch menu was varied and very reasonably priced, and the service was first class. The food when it arrived was all that we could have hoped for, and the portions were generous. Our fellow diners all commented favourably on their food. And as a bonus, the price of a two course lunch ( our bill came to £28 ) gets you into the village ( normal admission £10 each ) for free, and if you visit Clough Williams Ellis family home at Plas Brondanw ( lovely gardens, views and cafe ) you get in for £2 instead of £4. Almost the legendary free lunch.
