Driving out of Dolgellau, i took the long way around to drop our daughter at her Pony trekking and cross the second wooden toll bridge of the holidays and the most spectacular.
Now that the A470 has a large bridge over the river at Dolgellau, its a bit redundant, but makes a nice detour on a holiday and well worth the 70p to cross.
Really friendly woman manning the toll bridge - who knew the owners of the Whitney bridge we'd crossed a couple of days earlier.
A real treat of engineering in a stunning location.

If you get the chance to cross over this amazing bridge then take it. What a view and what a fantastic opportunity to use such an ancient bridge. Well worth 70p!!

Yes, the toll bridge was closed at 4pm the day we crossed (climbed the locked gate because we had a table booked for the afternoon) due to high winds. Careful of the proprietor who leaps out of his hut to collect your 20p! He also rents out the property at the end of the bridge which might be worth a look.

Great bridge and good shortcut across the estuary. Great pub nearby and on the Mawdacch Trail. Throw back to yesteryear with the hand collected tolle.

This bridge is a feat of inginuity all made from local grean oak abd painted white with black triming and securing British seal would you believe Gromit!"its been standing poised there since err donkeys years sorry your'll have to check with one of the locals or go into the George111 which was the old Welsh Steam Railway Station and have lunch and a pint of local Welsh beer or tea whot ever yer fancy or you can make a great holiday of it and book in as its a Hotel as well woo! The bridge is owned by a local resident who often dies a shift as one of the Tollmen and has the actual tollmans cottage on the south side which he lets out as a rentable cottage would'nt ye know, "really?" Yes its very Cute Sandra*
