Overlooking the estuary, this pub has a lovely position. The food was fairly typical pub food, no frills value for money but very acceptable.

Arriving at this hotel you cannot be anything but amazed at the location and view. When booking in the first thing you see is the 3 for hygiene which is not great. The rooms are fine but could do with a bit of love and attention. The bottom of the curtains covering the door were filthy. The interior of the hotel had that smell of years of cooking which some old hotels have. The food was ok typical pub grub but not hotel standard. If you are working in the area or have an early appointment don't expect a cooked breakfast as these only start at 8 am. Would I stay again definitely you won't find a more beautiful view

.... however, the male staff are a trifle surly. Had the distinct impression he would rather have been elsewhere. Coffee not bad - food the same. Definitely the perfect setting, maybe our next visit will be a culinary delight too.

My husband and I had a meal in the George III hotel last Saturday evening. The setting for the pub is just extraordinary and we have been a number of times over the last few years. This time the evening was spoiled by the fact that we had to queue for around 12 minutes+ to get a drink and the menu. We didn't have time to choose our meal as there were a number of diners waiting behind us. We were shown to our table, decided on our food and then had to queue again at the bar for around 10 mins+ to order. I asked if I could pay at the same time but was told 'no, as I had given my credit card to run a tab'. (We were only going to have one drink and the meal!). We enjoyed our food. When it came to paying, we were expected to join the queue to pay at the bar! It was now was even longer than before. My husband protested and we were allowed to queue-jump to settle up. In my view, the management is taking advantage of the fact that the pub is on one of the most beautiful trails, overlooking the estuary. It should definitely employ more staff during the tourist season and change the ordering/paying system. To add insult to injury, we discovered that we had been charged a 10% service charge.

The George III has a wonderful location, and the food was good, even for a pair of vegetarians. The place could use a bit of sprucing up, but we enjoyed it nonetheless.
