Its basic and has had its up and downs over the years. if you want a top class busy campsite then this isnt for you but if you want a back-to-nature holiday then its a good stop off. Would rather caravan/camper than tent here but still a beautiful location

i havent camped for years, so as a spur of the moment thing i told my 14year old son to get off his PC as we were going camping and hiking. i found this site on the internet and drove down. site was easy to find and we were greeted by a friendly aussie girl who told us to camp anywhere we wanted. we pitched near the lake. it was quite a busy site, but there was plenty of room. we bought some wood and tried but failed to have a camp fire. eventually, we gave up and gave the wood to the guy next door who moved his fire nearer to our tent. the fire keeps away the midges, which are there because of the lake. you really cant moan about these, this is the wild outdoors after all. my son loved not having to wash for a couple of days and slumming it. there was even a guy selling pizzas who arrived in the evening. after we got up we drove to llanberis, got a bus to pen y pass and walked up the miners track to snowdon and then down llanberis path back to car. we both had a wash when got back by jumping in the lake. it was cold but fun. toilet facilities are basic but adequet and better than when i was a kid when we used to dig a hole for a toilet. most people on site are quiet at night although a few tend to stay up talking quite late, but we heard no music. llanberis is quite a distance from site, so make sure you bring everything you need with you

Room Tip: if you camp near the lake, you get a wonderful view of it when you open your tent up in the morning

-amazing, lake-side location, 10mins drive from Snowdon (pen-y pass).
-pitches unmarked, car to be parked at the verge of tent field, no option to fix the tent near car.
-fire pits and timber available on site (£4 per large bag of timber), so most of the tents had bonfires next to them, but no burnt grass, excellent.
-facilities poor- toilets ok (saloon style door), only 6 showers for whole campsite, constant queues. showers 'outside' at the back of the toilet building, very basic, dirty, spider-webbed, door not closing properly -cold. leaky shower.
-freshly made pizza available on site.
-part of the campsite consists of very wet boggy ground, try to keep closer to the lake rather than other end.

July 2013, Perfect relaxed site, pitch where ever you choose which was great for us, as we were in a group of six tents and formed a circle. Fire pits available free of charge but you must buy the wood from the camp which isn't a problem. The guys and girls who run the site were very friendly and they run it very well, a quiet time policy is in place from 11pm and they walk amongst the campers reminding them that it is quiet time.Beautiful surroundings, and the view across the lake is breath taking. My only gripe would be the Loos, not too many of them compared to the size of the camp, and the showers, you need to be up early to avoid the Q! Piping hot water and at 6am they were empty, so I had a very enjoyable shower with the birds that live in the roof space! Great weekend.

Stayed with a friend whilst attempting Mount Snowden.

The site is very funtionable with a tidy toilet block. It was cheap at £8 each per night.

However, the noisy field of Cub-Scouts next to us and the no music ever on top of the no noise after 11pm rules kindof took the shine off the site.

Fire pits, If you can find them, are provided however the wood which they provide at a price was not the best burning Pine as it burnt like it had just been cut down and chucked in the bag.

All in all not a bad site, it was what me and my friend called a "safe site" very family orientated rather than back to basics camping.
