Llyn Gwynant is an excellent campsite in a beautiful location. Located right at the base of the Snowdon Horseshoe it is a perfect base for exploring Snowdonia.
You can walk directly up Snowdon from the campsite although it will add an extra 90 mins to 2 hours to the Watkin path and at least 2 hours if taking the paths which start at Pen y Pass.
The toilet and shower facilities could be a bit cleaner, but the facilities themselves are excellent and there is no extra charge for them. If the toilets were cleaner I would have awarded 5/5
There was a guy selling home made stone baked pizzas every night I was there, I didn't have one myself but they looked delicious and range in price from £6-£8
Fire pits are provided and you can buy a bag of wood which should last 2 nights for £4
The ban on stereos is good for people looking for peace and quiet but be warned they do allow guitars!!
If going in the summer make sure you take a VERY STRONG insect repellent, the site is next to a lake and at dusk there are millions of midges. I counted over 30 bites after my first night!!More
