“midge infested swamp”
Reviewed July 16, 2012

Initially we thought after looking at the website and reading reviews that we were onto a winner. Beautiful location, reasonably priced, plenty going on. What we got was a site infested with midges.. I know that.s not really the sites fault, but if like myself and my partner you are prone to being eaten alive no matter how much repellent you wear then its best to avoid this place.

Also with it being such a huge place ( there must have been at least 300 plus people on site) that they would have more than one toilet block. Mornings are a frenzy of people shoving and pushing to get to the loo and sinks, and even my partner said he had to queue in the gents too!!

most of the staff were foreign. i couldn't actually understand the person who checked us in and out the english speaking staff, some most were ok, but a few were very rude and almost aggressive with their tone with us. all we asked for was some wood.

personally I have camped in cheaper sites with more and better facilities. talking to other campers, they have been time and time again and can't fault it.. we won't be coming back

Although the scenery is lovely, our group were attacked by midgies from the moment we got there. They are relentless. The weather was really nice, but we had to eat in our tents and go to bed early. Even smoke did not deter them.
Even though there is a no music policy and you have to be quiet after 11pm, I did not get a wink of sleep through people shouting and music!
If you intend to do Snowdon, I recommend you drive to the bottom of the moutain, as there is quite a hike to the base.

Stunning location, not a bad price. However there were slugs in the shower cubicles and several members of staff were abusive towards our group and generally it was not a pleasant experience.

i have camped here 3 times, its an mazing valley in snowdonia with a lake ,nant gwynant, the site is basic no elec hook ups,but this site is really back to nature stuff, very cheap prices, great staff like charlie who helps you if you have problems, and even strums his guitar late at night,i came here on a bank holiday, was crowded but enjoyable, the great thing is they have fire pits dotted around, and you can buy logs for £4 to keep the campfire burning till midnight, when noise curfiew starts, which is inforced in a nice non agressive manner, loud chuckling is allowed,we have a dingy and spent alot of daytime on the lake, there is kayak/boat hire ,the downside is rain, does get boggy in the fields, and bank holidays are crowded, otherwise this is an amazing part of wales, breathtaking valley,a fantastic campsite, and one i will return to,maybee 5 times next year

Room Tip: bring your tent

The views here are second to none. Throughout the long weekend we spent there, we never got tired of just sitting and looking. We found that our pitch had plenty of space and we managed to find a nice secluded place to pitch two tents very close to the little beach and waters edge.

By far the very best thing about this place is that they allow the use of fire pits which creates the most amazing atmopshere at night.

As well as being beautiful, the location of the campsite allowed us easy access to the surrounding area. I would certainly reccommend this place, and hope to visit again.

Only gripe is that the showers were a bit unclean. I understand that there is some rennovation going on so I forgave them for the time being!

Great location at the bottom of a valley, next to a lake with a stream that runs along the edge. It is not secluded or roughing it if thats what you are looking for .. but a great spot none the less.

Room Tip: Camp next to the stream

I stayed at Llyn Gwynant campsite whilst in Wales to do a climb of Snowdon for charity.
I was camping with some work colleagues and two of them had not camped before. Sadly for them their first camping experience was some what ruined when they locked their keys in the car along with all of their warm cloths and walking gear.
The saving grace was the campsite staff who were extremely helpful in letting us use the office phone to arrange rescue to come and open the car as we had no change for the pay phone. They even met the rescue guy when he turned up as the car owner hadn't made it down from Snowdon in time.

The location of this site is stunning! At night, the stars are simply breathtaking. They're certainly true to their website promise of being a site that allows campers to be at one with nature. There are even birds nesting in the ladies loo block!

For me the only thing missing was a bit of music, which isn't allowed at all, even during the day. However guitars are allowed which was lovely to hear as you wander around this beautil site.

I've camped at quite a few sites but this one certainly has to be my new favourite! I'll definitely be going back!
