Once you get past the plastic table cloths, it's actually ok. A perennial favourite of grannies, their daughters, and grand children. Food is very pleasant; Eggs Benedict and the trans-fat rich Nachos are enduring favourites and we keep going back for their hangover curing effects!! The place needs a kick up the backside on the service front; it's just a bit sloppy and tired, and on hot days, unbearable!!

I had lunch there yesterday and I found it very good. The warm goat's cheese salad with walnuts and sun dried tomatoes was very tasty and at £4.95 was excellent value. The latte I had was made with a smooth and mellow coffee at just the right drinkable temperature and the service was excellent.

Just had lunch here. Great service and food. Seek this place out. Three are too many chain restaurants local to here but this is supporting the local town.

I have had coffee here in the past with no complaints but there is now a much larger choice of coffee shops in Monmouth which I think serve better coffee. However, we called in for breakfast one Saturday as our usual restaurant was unexpectedly closed. We asked a young lady behind the coffee bar if they served breakfast, but as she was having a private conversation with her friend we didn't get much of an answer and we were waved on through to the restaurant. When we saw the price of the breakfast (£7.50 I think) we decided to go else where. Not a problem, but the sarcastic 'good bye' that said young lady called after us was. We will not be returning.

Coffee and light lunches are available but the whole atmosphere (such as it is) is not conducive to lingering over a crossword or a good old chin wag with a friend. There are plenty of other places in the town for that. However, what they do they do well.
