Visited Wetherspoon pubs many times but never their hotels so when we wanted a local break thought we'd try this hotel. Good value for money, the room was spacious and clean, good heater which quickly warmed the room up, tea/coffee/water/biscuits replenished daily, plenty of hot water for bath and shower.

Staff friendly and food good. There's a car park a few minutes walk away so not far to be carrying luggage. Monmouth is a lovely town to visit and a good base for other areas in Wales.

Would definitely recommend this and visit again.

Stayed here on Wednesday night for £32 for a double en suite room, delighted at the price! booking and check in was efficient and friendly courtesy of Craig. The room was spacious and comfortable, lovely added extras with bottles of water and biscuits as well as coffee and tea. Nice flat screen LCD tv too! Bed comfy and room came with 2 extra pillows. Plenty of hot water to have a bath and shower and good sized bath towels too! we were in room 101 which was tucked away in the corner so we didn't hear any other guests. Hotel close to all local amenities which is brilliant. This was the second time of staying and will be staying again!

We stayed in a twin room, which also had a folding bed. The room was very large and well equipped with LCD TV, shower, tea/coffee, biscuits etc. The hotel is very central in Monmouth, which is a curiously under-rated place to visit. The reception staff of the hotel were friendly and efficient and at £45 for a twin room, this hotel offers great value. Breakfast at the Wetherspoons pub was up to the usual average Wetherspoon standard.

We stayed 4 nights at The Kings Head. Had a very good time. The food as usual very good at Wetherspoons. Good choice for breakfast and very cheap. Large room, we stayed in 207. Easy parking nearby, just a 3 minute walk. Slept very well and the staff was very friendly. Would certainly stay here again.

My wife and I have just got back from a one nights stay at the Kings Head in Monmouth.
We have on several occasions been asked by guests to suggest accommodation in the Marches. Being keen fans of Wetherspoons [despite your being the opposition in Malvern], and having heard favourable reports of your hotels we thought it best that we give you a try. The £30.00 for a Sunday night proved the added incentive and hence our trip, along with our eldest daughter and partner on Sunday.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wished it could have been longer. The staff, room, pub and food were great. Much more of an experience tahn just a stay, and the pub is worth a visit alone.
So just a couple of points; The first would be an easy fix and is the norm these days. Grab rails over the baths, almost essential for us oldies.
The second is the car-parking. We have no problems that the Hotel has no parking it is after all an old building in the town centre, but to find that they have dedicated staff parking and yet no parking for guests is very disappointing.
