We stayed for two nights at Cil y Bont. Although the weather put paid to some of our hiking plans, we had a really enjoyable stay. Alwena, John and Iwan are very welcoming, the breakfasts were fantastic and the rooms are spacious and immaculately clean with great en suite bathrooms. Llanrug is a couple of miles up the road from Llanberis but you can drive to Pen y Pass in about 20 minutes so it's a convenient base for walking up Snowdon and also a short drive from Caernarfon. We would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended.

After a tough slog on the welsh three peaks, we arrived at our B&B.
I and a twin room,Munich had a double shower, beautiful roll top bath, and super soft towels and toiletries.

There was ample tea & coffee making facilities and fresh milk and biscuits also put a smile on our faces.

The landlord and land lady made us feel welcome, they were friendly and courteous. The place was spotless. I can honestly say, that I have stayed in 5 star hotels and they have not been much better than this.

The breakfast was fresh and plentiful, with a variety of other cold and hot to choose from (I had both)
I would recommend this to anyone.

Room Tip: Ask for the room with the Bath, it's a twin but small trade off.

We have been to Cil y Bont several times now, always when we are working in the area. On the last two occasions we have extended our stay in order to fully experience and enjoy the Snowdonia area. Alwena, John and Iwan are friendly, welcoming and treat you like family guests. The rooms are decorated very regularly and are tasteful, comfortable and warm, with excellent facilities and spacious en suite bathrooms. The breakfasts are wonderful and really set you up for the day. We love going there!

Room Tip: All the rooms are quiet, spacious and comfortable, decorated and serviced to a very high standard

Myself an my family stayed here in October 2012 for the Snowdonia marathon. Excellent rooms very comfortable an clean and decorated to a high standard throughout. We could not of ask for better hosts ( John an Alwena). The rooms had a wonderful view of Snowdonia and the beautiful country side of Llanrug. I must also say that the breakfast was 1st class ! Not far from Llanberis we had no transport so had to take taxis to an from Llanberis, not that expensive about 10 pounds. Definatley would come back as theres lots to see an do in Llanberis, just a shame we didnt have time to see it all. Glad our first time visiting Wales was so enjoyable.

We felt very welcome with Alwena, John and Iwan and enjoyed many nice conversations with them during our four day stay. Couldn't ask for more - great bed, excellent breakfasts, use of their living room, and so on. All three of them provided us with good recommendations for places to eat, visit and experience. Our weather wasn't the best but did not detract from our lovely time in this part of Wales (we never did get a clear view of Mt. Snowdon). The location is excellent for traveling to the various destinations one might want to visit.

Room Tip: All rooms seemed to be good. No external noise to worry about on this farm.

We really did feel like one of the family in this pleasant home, located in the small village of Llanrug set next to a stream and affording views of the beautiful countryside. A very helpful young man at the Information Centre in Llanberis found this gem for us. Alwena, John and Iwan warmly welcomed us, our room was spacious and very comfortable, just like home! Nothing was too much trouble and Alwena even shared some of her batch of Welsh cakes with us. Their local knowledge made the area come alive. We used Cil y Bont as our base for 3 nights and their hospitality undoubtedly flavoured our overall enjoyment of our holiday in North Wales. Highly recommend.

There is a song by Harry Seacombe called> We will keep a welcome in the hillsides>
and this is exactly what you get when visiting the home of John, Iwan, and Alwena Hughes Jones.
Their home is in an idyllic situation in the small village of LLan Rug,with the beautiful Mount Snowden in full view from the bedroom windows, and a picturesque stream running alongside the main driveway, and sheep and cows in all the fields around the house.
The house itself is beautifully decorated throughout and is very comfortable and warm.
The breakfast is so good we think Egon Roney would be proud to stay here, and you even have a written menu from which to make your choice.
The bedrooms have every amenity you could wish for including tea, coffee, milk and sugar.
The hosts themselves John and Alwena are so friendly and helpful and there knowledge of the local area is very helpful to plan where to visit.
WE will definitely stay here again when we are in the area, and would recommend anyone to check out< Cil y Bont> when visiting this beautiful part of North Wales.
