Comfortable, cosy, homely decor, friendly attentive service, great restaurant which would easily compete with restaurants in london, wonderful breakfast and all set in a lovely welsh town.

Other than the parking situation, i simply cannot fault this hotel, highly recommended.

Hello Jon and thank you for taking the time to write such a great review, it really means a lot to all of us.
We especially appreciate your comments about our restaurant, very kind indeed.
Being in the centre of a very small town with narrow streets doesn't make parking easy but spaces do come up all the time, and of course we did offer to park your beautiful Aston ourselves!
Once again many thanks and we look forward to welcoming you both again soon,
Marc, Nick and the team.

I was staying in the area and for my last night I opted for a place in th town of dolgelau.

I enjoyed my stay and the hosts were very friendly and the evening meal was also lovely.

Thanks for a great stay I will be back.

Did not think much of the town. This outstanding B&B is the best thing in it by far. To call it a B&B is a tad unfair, it is more a hotel, with a nice little bar for pre dinner drinks.

The room was stylish yet with many period features intact and very very clean and roomy.
The breakfast was very good. But the in house restaurant was just superb, in food, ambiance and service.
The staff cannot be faulted.

Damn it a normally like to moan about something!

We haven't stayed here, but just had a truly excellent meal.
This is a very civilised spot. We started with a lovely Welsh Gin & Tonic in the bar while reading the menu. Then downstairs to what was the town gaol, into a really quaint dining room. I had a Caesar's salad followed by a steak. My girlfriend had a chicken breast wrapped in bacon and stuffed with green beans. All top quality, very nicely presented and absolutely delicious. With two drinks and a bottle of wine the meal was just over £80. Not cheap - but a very nice meal. We liked it so much we immediately booked a table for tomorrow. Recommended!

We stayed for one night in August, travelling from Chester to Shropshire and wanted to stop off a while to look at Dollgellau and the surrounding area en route. So glad we did, as our stay at Y Meirionnydd was a memorable experience and showed us something of the best that Wales has to offer; fine dining with an excellent selection of carefully chosen local Welsh products & ingredients, immaculately clean rooms and attentive, friendly staff. Dollgellau itself is a fascinating Welsh town. It has a strong quality of permanence about it, with splendid, solid, grey-stone inns and sturdy cottages built from massive great slabs of stone. It's as if the place has almost been hewn out of the rocks it stands upon. The shops and cafes offer unspoilt, unadulterated, old-fashioned Welsh charm (gentleman's clothing establishment window proudly displays an array of ten various trouser-braces!) It's a good base to explore from, whether climbing up nearby towering, cloud-clad Cadair Idris mountain; motoring along the coast to visit Barmouth's sandy seaside resort; or discovering Harlech's unique charm, with coastal castle - such are the many, diverse perspectives of this lovely area. On leaving, we travelled along a beautiful mountainous road towards rural Machynlleth; spectacular Welsh landscape, albeit amidst swathes of misty summer rain! We would definitely like to return to Y Meirionnydd one day to recapture this charming Welsh experience!

Room Tip: The Welsh weather can cloud the view of Cadair Idris and make the back room a tad gloomy. Maybe the...

A small but relatively up-market B&B with a fine restaurant and excellent accommodation. The 'hotel' has only 5 bedrooms , is wonderfully situated in the centre of Dolgellau. The rooms have all the modern facilities, an excellent shower and very comfortable beds.
If there was a negative point, I would say that the outside parking is slightly inconvenient being limited to 1 hr restrictions in the daytime until 6pm (it was slightly inconvenient to have to move the car to a car park out of town at 10am when the car was not needed). The hotel was also situated close to the main road (in normal times this is not an issue as excellent double glazing keeps noise down considerably. However when we were there it was warm and with the windows open traffic noise can be heard. Overall, though an excellent choice to stay and a superb restaurant. Wifi free and reliable too. We stayed in the Meirion.

Within a 2 hour drive from Manchester airport, this beautiful little hotel was a perfect sport for us to explore the Snowdonia region. The staff is extremely helpful and kind, the room we had (Cadair) nice and comfortable.
I would definitely recommend having an evening meal in the hotel's restaurant as well to sample the best produce Wales has to offer. On the days we walked, we took a packed lunch prepared by the hotel that saw us through a day long walks.
This hotel makes a perfect base to explore Snowdonia!
