“Lovely cosy cottage in the most beautiful surroundings”

We spent a week here over Christmas and had the most wonderful time. The house was very cosy with a Rayburn and wood burner. All bedrooms were a good size and the kitchen was a great kitchen to cook in especially as we were cooking Christmas dinner! The location was perfect, breath taking views all round and great walks for us to enjoy with our Labrador. Also good for access to other beautiful parts of the Snowdonia area. There was no phone signal but the wifi was good and there was a pay phone of needed. The owners were very attentive and the locals super friendly. I would definitely recommend this accommodation and hope to be back at some point.

Management Response
Jan 10, 2017
Thank you for the lovely review and booking with Best of Wales. The cottage has a really warm atmosphere and so good to hear you had a lovely Christmas and enjoyed all the facilities including the kitchen, which is so important for the Christmas lunch.

The area is stunning and good to hear your Labrador enjoyed some new walks as well. The owners are lovely people and always happy to help and make you feel at home.

I really appreciate your recommendation and would be very happy to welcome you and the Lab back again soon.

“The most relaxing break!”

This cottage is the most perfect place for a relaxing, get away from it all break! Beautiful cottage with very attentive and helpful owners.
There is no mobile signal or wifi here - which I am sure most of us are not used to these days but it was very refreshing to just shut off from everything!
Recommend taking a walking map of the local area to get the most from the area

“Home from home in remote Welsh valley - a blissful escape!”
Reviewed August 26, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We booked this cottage without realising it was in remote valley with a 25 minute drive to the nearest town (Machynlleth). We felt cut off initially due to no mobile signal or wi-fi but this was actually very good for us as we switched off much more quickly!

The views from the cottage are gorgeous, the owners are absolutely charming and the fact that the cottage was renovated as a family home 10 years ago rather than a holiday rental makes it feel like a home from home.

There is a wood burning stove which we didn't use in August but must be really cosy in the winter and even a washing machine which was a surprise to us!

As there is only one bathroom and no downstairs toilet it may be a stretch for 6 people but it was perfect for a family of four.

Being able to set out to climb Aran Fawddwy (one of highest peaks in Snowdonia) from your front door is a bonus! It did take us 7 hours as a family hike however.

Liked best: The remoteness of the valley and the views
Liked least: The fridge didn't work very well but that was our only complaint
