Visited here for two nights in August with my family.
Was initially greeted by a rather unfriendly member of staff (can’t remember a description at all unfortunately) but luckily a young man took over and explained to us about the car park and when we could check in etc.
Small car park with limited spaces- but not the hotels fault. Car park is less than a two minute walk so not too bad if there isn’t spaces- however we were lucky the whole time and managed to get a space every time we came back.

The room and en suite was gorgeous. Very impressed.
Ate in the hotel restaurant both nights- amazing food. Every meal we all had we thoroughly enjoyed. Young girl with darker hair serving both nights (4th September and 5th) was so friendly and helpful. Couldn’t do enough for the guests- really impressed with her. Same with the guy working- saw a bit less of him but he was equally as lovely- saw him breakfast too and he was as friendly then too. Also breakfast is delicious with a lot of choice.

Member of staff we encountered on the second night- young, blonde hair and with a nose piercing did let the team down unfortunately. She didn’t have the same attitude as the others, wasn’t very friendly and got one of our meals wrong- the darker hair girl soon sorted it out for us and apologised even though it wasn’t her who took our order. She made the whole table feel uneasy when she would come to the table and whenever someone was ordering she would just go ‘yep, yep, yep’ and walk off. Hopefully just a bad day but all the other staff were 5*.

Will attach photos of room and food but highly recommend and some beautiful walks very nearby with maps down in reception for guests.

One other thing, the room we stayed in did not have windows that opened very wide and no fan in the room or any way of making the room cooler. Am sure there would have been a fan for us to borrow but at 2am on the first night no one wanted to head down to reception to find out.

Overall, amazing food, amazing room, great staff and highly recommend.

A group of us stayed for two nights on a mountain bike trip. Five of us stayed in the family room which had 4 single beds and and one sofa bed, also a nice en suite bathroom. The room is semi divided into 3 sections, which keeps the noise down. The only downside is a lack of parking, but the staff allowed us to lock our bikes in a secure storage room. On the first night we ate in the resturant and all meals were great. Would stay again.

Stopped overnight enroute to Cardiff. Great location in the very center of town. Host at check not overwhelmingly friendly but staff, food, room and atmosphere were very good. Loved our room overlooking the main street. If you need money exchanged check out the Spar/post office a block away and chip shop at the top of the Main Street.

We have dined here on several occasions and been pleased with the steaks. We have a well behaved little dog who is welcomed. We returned there a short while ago, looking forward to the same quality of food, but were shocked when we read the menu. It was more like, "Pub grub". I asked our server if they served steak and he told his that they sometimes did. He recommended the beef special. They spoiled it by making it too spicy; the carrots were crunchy sand the cauliflower was cold. The staff however were very polite and the real ale was good with ample choice. They also provided the dog with some biscuits. I would definitely recommend for a social drink and a light meal. I can't comment on the rooms but the bar has probably not been altered for several decades.

We visited this hotel for lunch towards the end of August. We were after the usual lunch time, so it was relatively quiet. We were shown the area in which we could sit and served fairly promptly. Toilets were clean and well appointed although one loo in the ladies toilets had no toilet paper and the other had a flickering light - the likes of which would not be appreciated by those prone to migraines or possibly light sensitive conditions. I reported both to the bar. Our meal was enjoyable - prices were reasonable enough with the adult main courses around £8-9 and the children’s menu under a fiver. My husband ordered the chilli con carne option and I got the pulled pork hot sandwich. The boys both got fish and chips and received generous enough portions of these. We were offered sauces, etc and provided with these; nice clean tomato sauce bottle. Nobody came to check if we were happy with our meal halfway through, but that was ok, because we were. Happy to recommend.
