Description: Y Meirionnydd Townhouse is a great restaurant and bar in the centre of Dolgellau. What was the original old County jailhouse has been skilfully converted into a contemporary, stylish and yet cosy restaurant serving traditional British dishes with a Welsh twist using mostly local produce. The ground floor bar is a great place to unwind and relax with a drink or light meal. Booking is essential, please check for opening times. Please note we are unable to cater for children under 8 years old.

“Excellent quality and decent value”
Reviewed September 22, 2013

This is an excellent restaurant. We enjoyed it so much we went back for a second night. Really excellent food, every course we had was great for both of us (I normally get food envy but everything was so nice I didn't here!) . Couldn't fault any of it. £25 for 3 excellent courses with good quality local ingredients was good value). The staff were helpful and knowledgeable and there was a good atmosphere. Good gin menu in the bar upstairs too.

So pleased there was no envy in the air and that you noticed our Gin selection, easily the best in the area and a great start to any meal.
We look forward to welcoming you both again,

“Hearty tasty portions”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

We stayed here last Christmas and had a cottage in Dolgellau as we got some serious walking done. After climbing various mountains, we found this place one night and were delighted. Nice sized portions...we were hungry...good wine list and local produce make this a great addition to Dolgellau. The owners couldn't be more helpful, in choosing what to eat. Do go if you are in the area, you won't regret it.

“In a word - FAB!”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

Went here with some friends and it was so good we went the following night too. The decor was beautiful with attention to detail with a warm, friendly atmosphere to add to it's charms. As for the food - delicious is the only way to describe it. The hosts were great and really helped make the weekend great. A must for those visiting the area.

“The genius of Dolgellau”
Reviewed September 7, 2013

Where on earth is Dolgellau? I have no idea! But I must say that this restaurant in the middle of nowhere was delightful. Very nice interior, great original food, really nice friendly staff who we had a good chat with, and a cool array of drinks. So it was something different but still very good so was well pleased. Was a little more pricey but well worth it in my unhumble opinion.

“Pure Excellence”
Reviewed September 5, 2013 via mobile

Went this evening (6 of us) to round off our holiday and can only describe the food as sensational. Not the sort of venue you attend without knowing you're going to be spending above the average, but you're paying for quality products, expertly prepared and presented. To start we enjoyed rabbit terrine and the prawn/salmon both were beautiful. Mains were a selection of fillet steaks (ranging from rare through medium rare to medium), the lamb and the stuffed chicken - all cooked to perfection. Desserts were a mix of cheese boards, banana puddings and rhubarb crumble - again fantastic. The staff were both professional and social. I just wish this restaurant was closer to home.
