Was impressed with the photos of this cottage, it looked truly magnificent in size and quality. However the photos are a little misleading, the dining/living/kitchen is taken in parts and not as a whole, it looks smaller in life. The outdoor furniture cannot really be used, the wooden garden table is terribly warped, not a problem in winter but in the latest heatwave it would be a real let down.
Silly little things let it down, a tin opener that worked would have been useful, we bought a cheapo and left it there as others have obviously done.
As for the wheelchair accessible, well it is but that doesn't make it wheelchair friendly, it's not. I broke my leg a few weeks before arrival and couldn't get into any of the bedrooms, the beds were very high too. Thankfully the wonderful Viv who looks after the house came to my rescue, above and beyond the call of duty she was dismantling beds etc so I could fit in. The external doorways are a nightmare if you're wheelchair bound so I counsel anyone in that position to think before booking.
Having said all that the cottage is in a wonderful position, private and yet close enough to all attractions, it just needs a little money spending on it to bring it up to scratch, I would still recommend it but with reservations.
Hebog Bach is a lovely cottage. We took my wife’s elderly parents for a weeks’ holiday. They need heat and comfort (don’t we all but age makes it more essential). The cottage provided it in abundance. None of the usual messing around with heating - it was just on from dawn to late evening. All we had to do was turn the dial down to achieve a perfect ambiance.
There was plenty to do . Very nice lunches out every day - a bit different, sometimes quirky, always reasonable. The steam railway in Port Magog was just great. Incidentally, so was the fish and chip shop in the town.
Our thanks to Vivien who was most welcoming, not intrusive but always just a friendly phone call away.
Cheers to all involved!
This is a lovely, well presented cottage in a great location for visiting surrounding attractions. It is well decorated and equipped, with comfy beds. The sea view is stunning and it is surrounded by wildlife. The only issue we found was that the lounge, dining room and kitchen are open plan so it was noisy with 4 adults and 2 young children. This wouldnt have been too bad had it not been rainy in the evenings!
Loved this cottage and will always use it when visiting the UK !!! The House is perfect, you could not ask for anything more . The place was spotless and clean ! It was far enough away from everything to be quiet and secluded but close enough to everything not so you didn't have to go far to get anything you needed . My fiancé and I stayed for 10 days and jut loved the place ! While we were there the house keepers came and changed out bed clothes and towels and cleaned house even though we didn't need anything at all , they were just great and I would have to advise getting the dinner made for you. It was just great and more than enough for 4 people let alone my fiancé and I , again couldn't ask for anything more !! Cant wait to return , would highly recommend this cottage !!
Totally away from everything but a few minutes in the car and you can visit Porthmadog, Criccieth for all shopping needs. Beautiful beaches also nearby and Snowdonia within easy reach. Hebog Bach is perfectly situated to enjoy all these places and provides a wonderfully warm, comfortable and peaceful cottage to return to in the evening. Absolutely love it !
Thanks for the most enjoyable stay ever the cottage had every thing. We didn't want for nothing and the views when having breakfast was second to non the beds were to die for the design and style throughout the cottage was amazing I would book again if available.
We loved our stay at Hebog Bach. The cottage is modern, beautifully furnished with the most comfortable beds we have ever stayed in. Plenty of space for our two couples, young child and dog. The fire was brilliant on the cold February evenings. Lovely touches to the home and fabulous welcome package.
The cottage has plenty of fields all around for walking, and is only a short drive/1 mile from Criccieth which has shops, cafes and restaurants. Very much recommend Dylans.
Also close enough to visit the beauty of Snowdonia National Park - Porthmadog, Betsw-y-Coen, Barmouth; we even travelled up to Anglesey one day.
We had a lovely time and would definitely come back again.
