We booked a night in Plas Dinas as part of our North Wales easter break and we were really impressed with the hotel and its hosts. The room was clean with beautifully furnished interior, attention to detail evident across the hotel as well as the room. Easter chocolates in our room made us smile. Full welsh breakfast (for me) and scrambled eggs with smoked salmon(for husband) yummy!!!! We left a feedback survey and got a reply the same night, very impressive. Definitely worth a visit !

After a long drive we arrived to a warm welcome from Julian and Andy plus tea and cake by the log fire in the drawing room! We stayed in the Princess Margaret Room which was just lovely, from the TV and lovely toiletries in the bathroom to the iPod dock and homemade chocolates in the bedroom, the room was full of lovely touches....so thoughtful! We had dinner in the Gun Room with friends and Andy's cooking was second to none, we loved the locally sourced food and the imaginative menu. After a wonderful night's sleep we barely had room for breakfast but it was so tempting we couldn't resist!! We would have liked to have stayed longer to see more of the grounds and the local area, as well as sample more of Andy's cooking and Julian's hospitality but there just wasn't time on this trip so we definitely intend to go back as soon as we get a chance!

Room Tip: All the rooms are very nice but if you want a real treat go for the Princess Margaret.

This is a great place to stay in the foothills of mount Snowdon. The couple that run Plas Dinas - Julian and Andy - go to great lengths to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible. The food is fantastic as are the views from the bedrooms. The rates are quite expensive but the rooms are finished to a very high spec and well worth the money - we particularly liked the TV in the bath! The only problem with our stay here was that it was far too short.

Myself & my partner stayed at Plas Dinas in December 2012 with some friends for a weekend, and had the most fantastic time. Andy & Julian are fantastic hosts, made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed and full of local knowledge too. The food was beautiful, better than any leading chef restaurants in the city! We eat & drank well!

The room was very stylish, clean & comfortable, had everything we needed, even an Ipod connection too with large flat screen TV! lovely big bed, and slept like babies.. I think the red wine helped too!

Looking forward to going back to see Andy & Julian very soon. Dont hesitate to book this Hotel!

Room Tip: Go all out! and have the one with the TV in the bath!

Excellent room, and very good food, especial mention for ginger cake and brownies, and just the right kind of service, made for a particularly good few days away in Wales. Log fire much appreciated! Highly recommended.

Our last minute booking was due to a late decision to visit our mothers for Mothering
Sunday. This ended up being fortuitous because Andy and Julian had reduced the room rates...so lucky us! The boys and Patsy welcomed us and our dog and we were helped with our bags into our clean, fresh room. Everything in beautiful order as usual. Our journey had taken far longer than normal so we arrived late so didn't have the proferred tea and cake, but whizzed off to see one of the mums!
Had G & T's when back later, in front of the fabulous log fire and chilled out whilst my husband worked into the night!
Super eggs benedict for breakfast with lashings of toast and impeccable service as usual. then we were off for the day.
Later we got back for our evening meal which we had pre-arranged for five of us to dine. Had also tried the Welsh lamb shank previously and asked if that could be a choice on the menu... it was! Five of us had the lamb, as it is so delicious and was again..well done, Andy.

But what made this an 'over and above' visit from our previous visits? A fab surprise in the form of eating in the candlelit Gun Room! As we were the only diners, Julian and Andy decided we could dine there. It was so atmospheric. Superb food in the form of fish cakes with a side dish of chilli dipping sauce and rocket salad, one of us had soup...then came the divine Welsh lamb! Words fail us....Julian popped in to see if we were all ok..we were all busy eating...delish! The meat fell off the bone!
We didnt think we could manage puddings...but oh yes, go on then! Three if us had the sorbet bombe, one had an enormous sticky toffee pud which was declared a total winner and mother in law had an ice cream duo....then the final result? Empty dishes everywhere! Then relaxing by the drawing room fire again with some music by our daughter and her boyfriend...bliss!

A hearty breakfast devoured, we were sad to say "hwyl fawr" but I am sure we wil be visiting again!
Thank you Andy and Julian...and if course, Patsy!

Room Tip: Great to have The Buckley suite on the ground floor, because of our dog and a disabled visitor.

Me and my Partner have just come back from a fabulous weekend here and we stayed in The Princess Margaret Suite and was lovely, the host couldnt do anything else to make us feel welcome, we were greated with a very friendly warm welcome and was even offered coffee and cake in the drawing room which was amazing to sit in this beautiful place in front of the open fire with beautful music playing in the background. The breakfast was cooked beautifully and very well presented and was always asking if we had enough to drink. Again thankyou for such a wonderful stay

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Beautiful things fill Lord Snowdon’s historic family home, Marco's cooking hits the spot and the ten, en-suite bedrooms offer wifi and luxurious Molton Brown amenities. This is the family home of Lord Snowdon. It dates to the 1600s and stands in 15 acres with an avenue of oak that sweeps you up to the house. Princess Margaret stayed often and much of what fills the house belongs to the family: stunning chandeliers, oils by the score, gilt-framed mirrors – an Aladdin's cave of beautiful things. There's a baby grand piano in the drawing room, where you find smart wood floors, an honesty bar and a fire that roars, but potter about the house and find masses of memorabilia framed on the walls (make sure you visit the private dining room). Bedrooms are quite something, the past mixing gracefully with modern design. Nothing is left to chance, a constant programme of refurbishment sees to that. You get four-posters, classic colours, sumptuous fabrics, a sofa if there's room. Bathrooms are excellent, some with showers, others with free-standing baths. ... more   less
