It's the 5th time we have stayed here at Melinsoch and what a truly beautiful place it is.
With less than a 5minute walk into the centre of abersoch and 1minute away from a gorgeous Thai and Pizzeria restaurant that do theeee best takeaways if you don't fancy cooking or eating out.
It really is a home away from home with the benefits of being moments from the beach, a generously sized garden for the summer evenings to enjoy bbq's.
Have a 4 legged friend? - Not a problem you can bring them with you! Sophie absolutely loves it here.
Along with the comforts of a warm open fire, dishwasher, huge dining room table and the random yet perfectly selected ornaments it is a beautiful, home from home.
Thankyou- we can't wait to come again xx
My family of 7 stayed here for a week in July 2017. 2 young children, and 5 adults of mixed ages. The location is fantastic...it's a short walk into Abersoch, the local shops, bars, restaurants and beach. The drive up to the cottage is picture perfect and from the outside it looks amazing...
Cutting to the chase, for £1200 per week, the accommodation is seriously lacking. It is dirty. The place hasn't been cleaned thoroughly in a loooong time. The carpets, curtains and soft furnishings are all filthy. 2 of the bedrooms were OK. The third double room, which is advertised as being ensuite is hugely misleading. It isn't a double room...the bed was a 3/4 bed and the couple sleeping in it had to resort to bunking down on the couch as their legs were hanging out of the bed. It isn't ensuite either...as there is no toilet in this room! It has 1 bathroom with a toilet. And the other bathroom has just a sink and bath. Because it hasn't been cleaned in so long, there are lots and lots of spiders. My children were frightened of going to bed. Not just one or two....we were moving 4 and 5 out of several rooms a day.
There appeared to be no smoke alarms. Not all the heaters worked. The DVD player didn't work. The TV was ancient and offered only basic channels. The bulbs kept blowing in the bathroom. We only had a working light for the first night of our stay. We replaced the bulbs but same thing happened. The kitchen was alright, but again very outdated white goods in there and it was dirty.
The garden and outdoor dining area off the bedroom were great.
I just thought it represented poor value for money. It needs a much needed refurb in order to justify the price.
The cottage is in a lovely location, close to the village. I thought the lounge, dining area and outside space very good. But the bedrooms, and bathrooms were inadequate. The third bedroom had what appeared to be a double but was only a three-quarters bed. Only one toilet! Not enough for seven people.
The kitchen was ok but hey it's white goods very dated. Some of the storage heaters didn't work.
It could be a very nice!
Great facilities and a calming atmosphere. The only thing of note is path to the property was anxious about damaging my vehicle. Very helpful owners nothing was too much trouble would stay there again.
We loved our stay at Melinsoch and found it a perfect house for our friends to gather of an evening due to its location and dining room space. Perfect location for beach, shops, bars and restaurants. The children loved the outside space with the stream, 'secret passage ways', dens and rope swings! We loved our break so much that we have already booked for a longer stay next year!
This was my second visit to Absersoch and I chose to stay again at Melinsoch. The main reasons are the location and its pet friendliness!
I have read some of the reviews on here and want to be really honest with you. If you, like me, sometimes yearn to be by the sea in a safe environment for teenagers to be able to do their own thing for a few hours, to walk on numerous yet clean dog friendly beaches in the UK and to eat out at some of the nicest and most welcoming places then you really can't go wrong. Melinsoch is brilliant for this. Its location is perfect to wander into town for a few early evening g&ts, to eat at the literally 2mins away Coconut Kitchen and mooch around the interesting shops. With a car you can take the kids and dogs to other nearby beaches for full days out exploring and find your own favourites. The Ty Coch isn't far away, Llanbedrog is great for a morning walk on the beach and breakfast by the sea at the new beachbar, Aqua and Hell's Mouth is worth a visit too. For a few days away from busy lives, you can't go wrong. The cottage is like visiting an old friend. It has all you need to enjoy precious time away when you want your dog with you and therefore going abroad is not an option.
Melinsoch is a lovely cottage on the outskirts of one of North Wales's nicest villages - Abersoch. The cottage is on the banks of a stream and in situated on a beautiful location. The interior is a bit tired - decorating could do with updating so we felt it was a bit overpriced given that we had to also bring all our own linen / towels. Still, a very nice stay.
