My fiance & I came here for dinner, shortly after he proposed to me. The food was fabulous, I had a pate followed by fresh fish & the red wine was delicious too. But most of all the staff were just lovely! After a bit of female curiosity & over hearing about THE proposal, they brought us a bottle of prossecco to congratulate us. As if that wasn't enough, after dinner they served us some homemade chocolates & a hand written 'congratulations' note & the chef came down at the end of our meal for a chat & a glass with us. It was such an intimate venue, so genuine & thoughtful. Abersoch is such a wonderful place & this restaurant is no exception. We can't wait to visit here again & would highly recommend!

Needed a restaurant in Abersoch so checked out TripAdviser. So glad we completely dismissed the only negative (and slightly suspect review). We could not have been made more welcome, the food was fabulous, the waitress was lovely and we would totally recommend this lovely, small, very quaint and quality restaurant. Please ignore the negative review it was totally unjustified.

We dropped by at the dining room towards the end of our evening hoping to have dessert/coffee and we were in luck.

Other diners were just finishing and we were greeted with a warm welcome, served quickly and with enthusiasm. Our group of 3 each had a pudding and it was a great way to end the night in Abersoch.

We were impressed with the new venue and loved the 'plate peninsula' on the wall. The dining room is cosy and a perfect place to spend the evening.

After reading positive Trip Adviser reviews we chose to celebrate a special occasion at the Dining Room. What a mistake!
45 minutes after ordering, our starters arrived – a sk’egg ( a boiled egg coated in smoked fish and deep fried) which was good although the accompanying ‘mushy peas’ were rock hard, and pate, pleasant enough but not terribly exciting.
After we finished our starters we then had a wait of almost an hour before our main meals arrived at 9.30. By this time we had been in the restaurant for 2 hours and had had plenty of time to observe that some people who had ordered after us had been served their meals before us. No explanation or apology or comment was made regarding the length of time we had been waiting.
For our mains I had Sea Trout (hot but a bit overcooked and lacking in flavour) and my wife was presented with a sad looking Plaice dish that was cold and overcooked to the point of being unpleasant. She was not prepared to send it back as she was by this time very hungry and to send it back, wait again and then eat on her own would have ruined the evening completely! Nonetheless she could not eat it all and her meal was therefore mainly vegetables but these were at least hot.
By this point our special meal was no longer special and we decided that we could not face the stress/wait of ordering anything for dessert.
We had not gone to the Dining Room for a fast food experience and appreciate that good food cooked to order takes time but this was too long a wait and it wasn’t that good. For a restaurant that specialises in sea food the mains were very disappointing.
