Easy to get to, fantastic views, enough people around to feel safe as a woman walking on your own, but not too busy that you don't feel you are outdoors. Parking costs £1, but there is plenty parking in the verges. This is not quite off the beaten track walking, but you can't have everything half an hours drive away from Chester and 1 hour from Liverpool. There is sometimes a small mobile coffee/cake van in the carpark, but otherwise head for the Glasfryn in Mold or a pub in Ruthin.

This is another one of wales's brilliant walks. Very picturesque. Good for people who love to do walking. Also good for scenery for photography.

Good walk up to the summit of Moel Famau, amazing views on a clear day. we could see as far as Southport, Merseyside, Deeside, North Wales coast, Snowdonia, the Lleyn, Cader Idris and Plynlimon. We walked up from Bwulch Pen Barras car park but there are other routes from Loggerheads. It took us about two hours up and down and we had a picnic on the top whilst picking out all the places we could identify. Go prepared as the weather on the top can change quickly. The car parks are pay and display and there are toilet facilities available. It really is worth the effort.

Moel Fammau is always a good climb. You can choose the route that suits you. The one I went on with my elderly (?!) mother was from the back way into Ruthin. This is probably the easiest and it is good going under foot all the way. It gets a bit steeper just near the top but otherwise is relatively straightforward. Weather permitting there are good views from the top and there are good panels at the top in the Jubilee Tower to point out what you can see. I just forget how long the walk took but I am sure it was well less than 2 hours.

I know from childhood climbs in the 70s and 80s that there are other paths from Cilcain and from Loggerheads and quite likely others besides. these walks will be longer and probably a little more strenuous than the one I took recently.

Many years ago I used to come to Moel Fammau to sledge and I can only guess it is still good for that now!

Nice climb to the top of this mountain. There are different grades of walk, easy, medium and hard. You can park at the bottom or halfway up for a shorter walk.

Our kids, aged 7 and 8 are fine to do the medium walk from the bottom, especially with the promise of a picnic at the top!

The car park is a pay and display one and the car park at the bottom has toilets, there are also picnic tables in the car park area.

The dog loves going here but there are a distinct lack of bins so be warned!

Views at top are great but you may need a coat as the weather can change very suddenly at the top.
