we live in glasgow and my mother is in a care home in north wales so my husband and i went down to visit her for the week and stayed in this hotel. the room was nice and quiet and quite spacious and modern we were booked on b&b and the breakfast was lovely we also ate in the restaurant for our dinner we found there was more choice in the restaurant open for non residents( the arches)rather than the one just for residents where you had to book even though it was totally empty when we were there. the only complaints we heard was from coach parties who were hearded into a seperate dining room and were complaining they did not get enough to eat !!!!!! we really enjoyed the stay here and will stay here again next year when we go down again it is a lovely hotel and staff were very helpful

Room Tip: ask for a quiet room ours was very peaceful overlooking a small very quiet road at the back

We visited the Arches restaurant for a meal on a Saturday evening. The menu has a good selection of choices and is reasonably priced. The bar service was very slow - there seemed to be three staff but the place was very busy so ordering drinks was a slow process and you wouldn't have been able to replenish drinks part way though a meal. The meals didn't all arrive together, two arrived but then there was a five minute wait for the remaining three. It would have been a nice touch to have been asked if we required further drinks when being served with the meals but it seems that bar service is the only option - and we ruled that out due to the queue. However the food was very nice, generous portion sizes and well cooked - no complaints about quality. I'm sure we will be back as overall we had an enjoyable evening but I think more staff on busy Saturday's would improve service.

Celebrated a fantastic wedding here. The breakfasts were fine and they supplied gluten free bread which was excellent. Service was a little slow but it was busy. The room was clean and tidy but the beds were very small and old fashioned, and the furnishings had seen better days and could do with refreshing. Staff were friendly, the bar was excellent. Worth staying if you're in the area but I wouldn't say it was a destination in it's own right.

Stayed in this hotel for one night and we enjoyed it. The room was clean and tidy, decent size of bathroom aswell. Breakfast in the morning was decent aswell and we were allowed to stay in our room for an extra couple of hours in the morning, free of charge. The hotel itself is quite fancy and is done up really well. The staff are also very polite and all said hello. The only down points are, the hotel meal and bar prices were a bit on the expensive side and there were no pubs nearby the hotel. The pub across the road was shut, so we had to go away to the other side of the town to get a pub. All in all we would stay at this hotel again as it covered all the basics, clean and tidy, good breakfast, nice staff etc.

This hotel was clean and the girls were very friendly, helpful people. But, the meals were not good at all. Everything seemed to be recycled. The potatoes were getting more and more wrinkled over the the three days we stayed there. The rooms were comfortable if a little dated but the meals let the hotel down. We were in a party of 20 on a coach tour so this may have had a beaaring on it.

Room Tip: A comment from another guest who changed their room said it was like moving from a tent to a four star so avoid the upstairs room. Most are on ground floor and these are fine.
