“Always good”

Whenever we have eaten here we have always enjoyed our meal, we usually accompany our son, daughter in law and three grandchildren who range in age from 3 to 7, they also leave clean plates, we have travelled far and faired worse, The Tavern is an excellent addition to local dining options.

“Excellent”

From the outside, it looks like a quaint little pub. The decor & staff create a great embience for a great evening. The meals are just stunning, and unbelievably reasonablly priced. I have only recently found this little oasis, but have been back a number of times, bringing family and friends, and have had a great time, and a great meal every time

“"The Tavern" -a welcome return!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2013

The Bride & I have known "The Tavern" since the days when the inside, front-of-house bar sported a thatched roof! In those times the owner's wife did the daily cooking for a discerning bunch of North Wales tafia who wolfed down her alternating lunch-time steak & ale pies/ roast lamb chops with their whiskies and soda and hearty delight. In the evenings, the poky nooks were taken with discreet but glammed-up, wide-eyed sippers. It was a great place to spot illicit liaisons and the give-away furtive looks that, according to some make for an exciting mid-life. The Bride & I are past that sort of thing, but we're still game to play a little footsie when we are out and about -and when we are reminded of our own youth-time fancies.

So when we fetched up anew at The Tavern and saw the revamped interior we were impressed. Pop-smart -and definitely classy. The Bride, who cooks up a good gruel herself, said the vegetable soup was the best she'd eaten. My whitebait was sea-fresh simple and not smothered in the kind of doughy splodge that shouts "frozen". We each had a main-course of plaice. Proud and plump and oozing flavour. Perfect said The Bride and I had to agree!

Maybe the little herb garden outside the kitchen and the blackboard listing the principal produce suppliers should have given us a clue. Now brought bang-up with the times, “The Tavern” is a remarkable, top-drawer, tucked- away retreat -where the boys in the backroom know their foodie stuff. And how to serve it up, value-style to a couple of old croakers. We'll be back. For the food and the footsie.

“Wonderful food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2013

We live only a few miles from the tavern and I have never ate there before but will certainly be going back, and I have already recommended to half a dozen friends today!!!! Myself and my husband ate in the pub last night a bit of a last minute booking but staff were really accommodating. We ate way too much, but the food was wonderful, and the sharing platter for desert was to die for. The service was spot on absolutely no complaints and can't recommend highly enough really wasn't expecting such high quality food as a few people have mentioned a little gem of a pub :) will be back soon

“Ruby Wedding celebration”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2013

We went to the tavern on a Friday evening with some friends who were celebrating their wedding anniversary, just the four of us. On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly member of staff who took our drink orders. Straight away the pleasant waiter came with menus. We all opted for the 4 course meal and did not want to know what was on this menu, we wanted a surprise. This was around I think £27.50 per head which was fantastic value. Each course was fabulous, really best meal we have all had for a while. Owner chef came to chat to us at the end of the evening and was very enthusiastic. Lovely place, must go back soon.
