We were welcomed at the front door of the hotel by a very friendly and helpful member of staff which put us at ease straight away. We were shown to our room which was wondeful (Garden Suite). It was very spacious with two sofas and large TV at one end of the room and an enormous and extremely comfortable bed at the other. The bathroom was large, with seperate bath and shower. Very well designed. The addition of a private seating area in the garden which was accessed via french doors from the bedroom was perfect as we have a dog and didn't want to bother the other guests.
The gardens themselves are very well looked after with the water features, box hedging and large lawned area. Felt like we were in a small country estate. The Berwyn mountains are a dramatic contrast to the formality of the gardens.
Now the biggest selling point for this hotel - he food and service. The menu is clear and descriptive but not flowery. The wine list is the same - giving all the information you need to make an informed decision. Susan and her team are always on hand to help with any questions that came to mind.
Bryan's food is understandably classed as the best in the country. The quality of ingredients and the way in which they are used is amazing. The simple sounding smoked salmon mousse and horseradish cream starter was a personal favourite. The half lobster was also cooked perfectly (could easily have had a whole one as a main course). main courses were equally wonderful - duck breast and confit leg, halibut with leek risotto, roasted grouse with bread sauce and game chips. (Plenty of walks from the doorstep to build up your appetite for the next meal). I could go on and on about how fanstastic this place is. Probably the ideal hotel to experience the best Wales has to offer from the produce to the beautiful countryside.

We stayed in this hotel over our anniversary weekend and had a really great experience. We stayed for two nights dinner, b&b with the tasting menu on the second night. The food was first rate and each dish we sampled was the best example of it's dish as any we have eaten anywhere else.
The hotel is very characterful and the rooms are clean and luxurious with plenty of attention paid to every detail.
I would highly recommend this place to any for either the restaurant or the hotel.

Quite simply wonderful. Room was amazing - well decorated and laid out with fabulous bathroom - would recommend the Garden Suite.
Location was lovely - no noise and no mobile phone signal!
Food - out of this world! We indulged in the 7 course taster menu and each course was divine. Breakfast had the most choice I've seen in ages and all well done!

We were in Wales for a wedding & decided we needed to break the journey home. Tyddyn Llan was nearly en-route & had been in our sites for a few years so it was an obvious excuse to visit the place. Very glad we did.

We opted for a superior room which was spacious, comfortable & had good views across the garden to the hills beyond. The room was clean & well stocked. The only complaint was that the bed was rock hard & had a railing style headboard which made sitting up in bed nigh on impossible. That aside the bathroom was good, clean, the little extras plentiful & the stay comfortable.

The main focus of the hotel is the restaurant. We opted for the gourmet menu. Good champagne & loads of canapés to start. Pea & mint soup was good but not spectacular. Scallops were perfect with a great pickle / salad accompaniment. The ham/herb terrine was as good as I've eaten, delicate but good texture & a great piccalilli to the side. Next was sea bream with lava-bread sauce. Good, well balanced but (perhaps) a bit safe. The mains of lamb was superb, good flavour & succulent. The cheese board was disappointing, interesting selection but badly kept. Was too full so didn't have pudding. Service was excellent, attentive without being overbearing. We were kept informed of progress through out the meal & wine suggestions were made when appropriate. Top marks. Wine list reasonable prices & a comprehensive choice without too many of anyone style.

Later in the evening we tried to watch a dvd in our room but failed to get the player to work so I went off to find help. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. I was immediately found a new player which was installed & set going with out fuss. Excellent service there.

Breakfast was excellent as well. Again attentive staff & a wide choice of locally sourced foods.

All in all a great place for foodies & we'll be returning soon

Spent 2 nights celebrating 65th burthday. The food was excellent, the staff delightful. The lounge is cleverly designed with small seating areas. There is an excellent walk up Cadair Bronwyn and Cadair Berwyn which took all day (6.5 hours and around 10 miles), we did not see another person as we climbed to around 2,500 feet, the views were stunning and it was straight from the door of the hotel. A hidden gem. We look forward to returning. Everyone was delightful.

Myself and my wife stayed at Tyddyn Llan for three nights to celebrate our Silver wedding anniversity. We were hoping it would be a special experience and we were not dissappointed. We had the standard menu the first night which was fantastic and decided to go for the Taster Menu the second night. It was a gastronomic feast and should be tried - every course was exceptionally delicious.
Service at all times was prompt and courteous and a relaxing drink in the lounge while you struggle to choose from the wonderful menu of fresh local produce was a great way to start your dininng experience. The wine list was extensive with bottles to suit all pockets. The setting was quiet and peaceful yet central for sightseeing.
Susan, our host was very attentive and helpful and made everyone feel like a valued guest. We have travelled extensively but the quality of the food, accommodation and the extremely friendly nature of the staff were second to none. If you want one of the best gastonomic/romantic breaks available anywhere book now for Tyddyn Llan - you won't be dissapointed.

Tyddyn Llan embraces you. First with Susan Webb's warm bubbly welcome and charming staff and then - THEN you are treated to her husband Bryan Webb's cooking. It seems that the ultimate attention goes in to every dish. From the sourcing of fabulous - and largely local produce - through to their presentation, we ate dishes that made us feel nurtured and loved. With canapes and soup before every meal, you certainly get value for money. It's hard to believe they make any money on the food. It is so generous. Presented with such love. As for the room, seldom have I slept in such a wonderful bed. With that and the beautiful Welsh fresh air I slept better than ever. And top bathroom. We returned home utterly restored.
