Had a fabulous one nights stay, the inn is full of old features and had loads of atmosphere. The bedroom was really comfortable and the food we ate in the bar was superb, lots of choice and we really enjoyed the Welsh rarebit starter it was so tasty. Best ever tasted. it was really cosy sat talking in the bar in the evening we didn't get chance to explore too much in the village as we arrived just before it started to go dark. we drove to the Pistyll Rhaedr Waterfall after a lovely breakfast it was spectacular well worth the twisty journey. Will definitely recommend to family and friends.

Booked a 2 night stay here through travelzoo for a mini break with my better half, and I have to say it far surpassed all our expectations even after reading the reviews.
The drive through the country roads get you set for a little country hotel and thats what you get. You open the door and you're greated by a stunning fireplace and a very friendly owner. We stayed in the Howard room after an upgrade and we will be staying it it again hopefully in June.
A stunning antique 4 poster bed and exposed brick in the room makes it so homely and full of character. The bed was soo comfortable slept like a baby except for thr creaking pipes at 6am due to the heating kicking in but all added to the character.
The food was great have to say we preferred the pub menu to the restaurant menu and the breakfast was just as good. We requested welsh rarebit for breakfast and they were more than accomodating.
Great beer as an extra plus!!

A colleague and I visited The West Arms for lunch today. Geoff And Gill were most welcoming to us and recommended the fish cake as a starter; which was super tasty !
Lovely setting for a hotel and restaurant; most welcoming owners and great food.

My wife and I stayed for two nights over new Year. Firstly the owners Geoff and Gill were most friendly and welcoming, as were all the rest of their staff. They made our stay like visiting someones own home with staff in attendance.
The food was exceptional . The room we had (Eagles) had lots of character and was expertly attended to each morning. Very clean.
Thanks again to Goeff and Gill and all the staff including of course the Chef and his staff.
We'll be back a.s.a.p.

Room Tip: don't choose over the front door or over the bar area

We had booked last minute and the room rate was really cheap, so can't complain about that. However, room 12 is very basic so next time we may upgrade to a better room. The hotel location is lovely, and the building is full of character and very cosy and welcoming. The staff are also very pleasant without being too much.
The problem we had was unfortunately with the food which we didn't really enjoy. The bangers and mash with the mustard mash (way too much mustard). We did point this out, and to be fair we were offered more plain mash, but we didn't take up the offer. The fish cakes were overpowered by the herbs (probably dill) although not sure, but were very herby. The salad was swimming in oil, and the chips were not cooked enough.
Breakfast the next morning was also a let down, as the smoked haddock was cooked in the microwave and wasn't right. It was cold and the texture was all wrong and it seemed a bit raw. My partners fried egg was very snotty, and the tomatoes were not cooked.
So, all in all, a mixed review. The let down on our part was the food.

Room Tip: Room 12 is very basic and quite cold. Perhaps try a character room. It may be worth the extra cost.
