On a recent tour of Wales, my friends and I found this hotel perfectly good for our needs. We were very pleased to be able to park our motorcycles in the secure alleyway. While it is not a modern hotel, it had all the comforts one would expect. The rooms were clean and well equipped. Hotels.com rate this hotel as 2*, but I think 3* would not be amiss. This is an old building with all the drawbacks (no elevator) and charm which that brings. For the price it was reasonable value. While a little more attention to etiquette may be needed, the staff were generally friendly and helpful. All in all, I’d say we were pleased with our stay.

Stayed for just one night, but thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The owner and the staff were all extremely friendly, the rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable, the decor was very much in keeping with the age of the building. The evening meal was superb, with the biggest gammon steak I've ever been served, and the atmosphere in the bar, complete with coal fire, was fabulous. The breakfast was also excellent, and generous to boot, I'd go back any time that I were in that part of Wales without hesitation. Even my 93-year old Mother In Law, who is as picky as you can get, was duly impressed.

Room Tip: Even rooms on the street side are relatively quiet, and with the statue of Owain Glyndwr just across...

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights and really enjoyed our stay. Room is spacious and clean, breakfast is good, location is fantastic. The owner of the hotel was very friendly and told us about the history of the building going back to 14th century. It was very interesting to know that the hotel was a coaching inn on the road from London to Ireland. This hotel is full of character. We'd definitely come back to stay if we're in the area again. Great value for money.

Wonderful to stay in a hotel with some character! It made a change from the usual faceless chains, the host and staff are unfailinglingly friendly and helpful. The simple breakfast menu saves having to take ages to decide what to have and the full Welsh was perfecly cooked and HOT! Yum!! Evening meals are also fairly simple but well cooked and delicious, we didn't see any leftovers!
Location was excellent for sightseeing and after a coupe of days we felt like locals. We would heartily recommend this hotel for it's character, it's friendliness and it's location.
