Had a really nice two night stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was excellent, the prices are very reasonable and the setting and location were simply brilliant.

This was a very nice little hotel within spitting distance of a great castle. The restaurant associated with the hotel was very good and the rooms were beautiful, new and clean. One minus was our bed (which was a bit too hard in room #4) but our daughter in #3 had a softer bed--so tell them about this if you have a preference. The only other complaint is that despite the law on smoking in hotels/restaurants in the UK that was recently enacted, some staff person was smoking one morning, as my family was the only one still in the place and suddenly you could smell it--though the rooms were NOT smokey and I would be happy to stay there again....in room #3!

We loved the Y Branwen. I agree with everything written here. The bed was extremely comfortable (especially the night after our transatlantic flight - could not have been better). My doubting Brit husband was very impressed with the service and the hotel. He thought it was a great find in Wales. The breakfast was great too. We hope to be back this December.

I stayed here before the place was re-vamped and loved it. Now it has been re-vamped I love it even more. All the staff are extremely polite, and customer focused, the location is wonderful and I can not fault it as a whole at all. You are welcome from arriving through the doors and even the after care they provide is great too. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone!

Great service, were a late Friday evening arrival, they kept Sausage Mash & Gravy for us despite chef having finished some hours previous.
Nice clean rooms & good breakfast
Bar busy with mix of residents and locals, large screen TV for the Sport but not too prominent.
Only criticism of room was lack of bath (tired golfing legs) but v good shower pressure.
Would recommend as great base to explore North Wales for Golfing

Our family stayed at Y Branwen during week two of our six week "grand tour". It was a high point in our trip. The proprietress (Ms. Wood) and her staff were the most accomodating of any of our hosts during 42 days of travel (including some 5 star accomodations in London).

the dining at her restaurant will help to redefine traveller's perception of Cymru/English cuisine and the pub was a welcome respite from the more touristy offerings throughout the UK.

When my son misplaced his sunglasses during a field trip to Llanbedr (hello Bedewr), Ms. Wood went above and beyond the call of duty to arrange their pickup and return.

Sitting at home here in Oregon, I miss the ambience and conversation already.

Others have written regarding the rooms, but suffice it to say the fixtures and accoutrements were top-notch.

We would (and will) return as soon as possible.

We stayed for one night in Y Branwen. Recently refurbished it had a very fresh feel about it. The room was quite small and very warm but that can't be helped due to the extreme outside temperature. Also no view as there was a dry stone wall directly outside the window but as we were there for only one night we spent very little time in the room. The room itself was very clean with nice linen and towels and the bed very comfortable. Shower very powerful. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant served good food. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wanted to stay in the area.
