Owner description: Completed in 1290, this is a fine example of a concentric circle, with outer walls serving as a line of defense around a series of inner walls and the main living quarters.

The castle is a well preserved ruin and you can climb to the top of one tower. I imagine that parking is difficult in the high season but Harlech Castle is well worth a visit

This was a great castle. Small, but interesting, and lots of great history. From the top of the biggest tower there is an amazing view of the countryside and the ocean.

The Castle walls and towers are still largely intact so you can walk to the top of one tower and along the walls on all four sides. The views of Cardigan Bay on a clear day are breathtaking, although it is not essential to visit the castle to admire them. The cost of entrance for an adult at £4.75 is okay. As quite a small castle 45 to 60 minutes is enough to see it all and read the information boards.

For the price (£4.25 per adult) it is well worth a visit. The info and tour in the book is interesting enough (though admittedly limited as it is a smaller castle & ruins so there is less to see than other castles) BUT worth it for the walk around the walls and the views over Harlech, the beach and sea and Snowden. We must have stayed half an hour on the walks just taking in the sun and the views and the surroundings. Beautiful!
