Description: The Plas Restaurant is situated on the High Street of the Historic coastal town of Harlech. It's frontage gives few hints as to what lies beyond. An elegant Restaurant and a relaxing, comfortale Conservatory, with lawns to it's front taking full advantage of the most spectacular views of Royal St. David's Golf Course and across the bay to the Llyn Peninsular. From the conservatory and terrace there are wonderfully close views of Harlech Castle, once the home of Owain Glyndwr.

We found this, after an afternoon on the beach and were a little sandy when we arrived so I expected to be refused entry (which I felt would have been understandable). The restaurant is up in the village of Harlech, high on the cliffs and we were seated in the conservatory with an amazing view of the bay. The food was excellent and the menu offered plenty of choice. The children's menu was a little uninspiring but the portions were generous and very tasty. I would definitely go again.

Not what it used to be, I'm afraid. Of course the outside terrace is the place to be, with panoramic views over the golf course.

We had received a platter the week before in Liverpool, so the standard was high. But the Plas seafood platter was a meagre thing, with only one item apparent of fish which was scampi fried as gougons; the rest on the plate was a thin salad; and for over £9.00 this was a poor show.

The service was by not well-trained youngsters, but they did look smart in their black outfits.

Discussing the platter with the lady who appeared to be the manager/owner, she seemed happy with their platter, indicating her limited experience.

Will not be visiting again.

We enjoyed the fabulous view from the conservatory but that was all... The waitress left the cups in front of us in a pile and made no effort in laying the table or pouring the tea. The Cream Tea was the most synthetic one I have had with foamy cream and non- discript red jelly. I spied the Banana Cream Slice on another table that had the most artificial tinge of yellow. The Carrot Cake we had was also intensely sweet and uninteresting. It's a shame because we were going to have dinner there another day but didn't want to risk it or perhaps we would have had better luck!

Went on Saturday the 13th found the Plas whilst walking through Harlech and tried to book a table for the evening but like others even though the menu outside stated that you could book a table you could not and they said we are open at 18:30 and no problem. We returned at 19:00 the place was nearly full. The drinks waiter took us to an available table and within a few minutes we both had drinks. It was some time before we could catch the same lady to see if we could place a food order only to be told she only does drinks. Another lady then went up to another table who arrived after us and started to take their orders, I then asked when can we order our food and was told we would be next. it was some 20 mins and then the lady returned and took our orders. The starters took around 15 minutes to arrive and then approx 40 mins later the main course arrived without new potatoes as they had run out so had chips. The food itself was good so no problem. The main problem with the Plas is thay had staff who have dedicated duties . We had a seperate drinks lady, a seperate lady who took the orders and two other girls who bought the food out so things will go wrong as it appears that no one is in charge. There are not many places eat on the High Street at Harlech and like others the Plas looked good from the outside and no complaints abount the food. It was good to have a break between the starter and main course but if you were in a hurry you have no chance. The Plas needs to allow bookings and then the Chief can accomodate cooking the meals in some fashion as at the time we visited it was pot luck as to when you ordered your food and then the wait due to the place being so busy.

We came to visit Harlech to see the castle as we walked up the street we saw this restaurant and decided to go in for a tea & toast as the price looked very reasonable. Once inside we were ushered into the conservatory which overlooked the whole of the Cardigan Bay & the Llelyn mountains. Wow! it took my breath away! The tea & toast we ordered was very nicely done and you used a tea strainer for the tea as well, which makes all the better...classy! The restaurant is very comfortable and feels regal.
