Ugly House certainly lives up to its name, but, inside, it's quaint and rustic - and a bit of a tight squeeze. I ordered a very expensive ham sandwich (about £6!), and was dismayed at the size of the portion when it arrived. When is a sandwich not a sandwich? When it comes in doorstep bread, on a dinner plate, surrounded by salad, potato salad, coleslaw and a pot of mustard. No wonder it was so expensive. The portion size put me off, and I only ate one half of the sandwich. The staff kindly wrapped the other half for me to take away, but the rest of the gubbins on the plate was just waste. I wouldn't visit Ugly House again, for that reason, but I will say that the ham inside the sandwich was delicious.
