Came here August 2013 with partner, partners sister and her family, been wanting to visit for a while the name of the zoo made me imagine something amazing but unfortunately was left disappointed. In reality zoo on a hill and animal areas not very big bird/penguin and sea lion show quite good but rest of zoo is a bit like a nature trail and cafes are very cramped and food is not good, we asked for crumpets and they were warmed up in microwave.

Had we paid about a fiver to get in I could forgive this place but for the price of around 12 quid per adult I just don't think it is worth it!

This is brilliant place to take the family, resonably priced, staff friendly. Spider monkeys are brilliant and funny one kept staring at people and then standing up pulling back his shoulders and looking like he was saying ' what you looking at' definatley recommend a visit here, take a picnic though as food is expensive here, for 4 drinks ( coke, fanta, etc ) it came to £7
Wear comfy shoes too as it's quite hilly, views are brilliant.

A small zoo but worth the visit, we spent the full day here, the lay out is a little confusing but you get to see everything. lots of parking
Good value for money (look for voucher in tourist guide) with plenty to see, demonstrations of falconry and sea-lions. close encounters with most exhibits. The lemur enclosure was an excellent example of how to introduce visitors into the enclosure for closer contact with the animals. Considering how small an area the zoo covers, there's a great feeling of space, and none of the enclosures look constricted.
Love the Monkeys and the Lemurs.
There is a cafe and restaurant and space to have your own picnic.
the whole zoo is clean and well maintained, the plants, tree's and gardens were all in bloom
well worth a visit :)

We went to this attraction, close to home, as a birthday treat for our grand-daughter, who was five. Her mother arranged this, we paid for ourselves, and thought it good value for money, with plenty to see, demonstrations of falconry with a variety of raptors, owls, harris hawks, and more, and close encounters with most exhibits. Our favourites were the meerkats and penguins, but all were well signed and easy to explain to children. the lemur enclosure was an excellent example of how to introduce visitors into the enclosure for closer contact with the animals. Considering how small an area the zoo covers, there's a great feeling of space, and none of the enclosures look constricted. Getting there by car is a little complicated, more than 4 cars queueing causes a traffic jam, which must be a pain for the neighbours, but there is a free mini bus service from the train station and town centre. There is a cafe and restaurant, and snack facilities, we took our own picnic, which was not a problem, and there was plenty of choice of places to eat it.

We've been here a couple of times now and while we have enjoyed it I think it could do with some tlc in certain places. The animals looked well looked after and there is a nice play area for the kids. The lay out is a little odd in places. The café next to the penguin enclosure is quite expensive and gets very hot when busy, so would recommend you take a picnic.
