“Cute village pub”
Reviewed July 1, 2013 via mobile

After hearing about this place from friends we decide to give it a try,it took a little while to find as it's tucked away up in the tops of old Colwyn in a cute little village and has the most beautiful views on a clear day.
I had the Somerset set chicken which was tasty+full flavor, my partner had the Lamb shank off the specials board to which he said tasted lovely and fell off the bone
The staff were all nice+friendly, the pub was like a step back in time.

“Cozy little pub in the welsh hills.”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

Me and my girlfriend actually found this place by mistake. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise. It was a very friendly, old fashioned, warm and cosy little pub. We sat down for a drink and ordered our food. Whilst waiting we were not short of ornaments and pictures to look at, we decorated for the pub theme. The food was slightly overpriced for pub food, but well justified as you get a quantity and quality for your money.

Well worth the drive up 45 degree hills. Great pub and great people. Won't be hesitating to go there again soon.

“Excellent Food, Excellent Service”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

This place is fantastic, very "oldy worldy" but a great place - the food was amazing. We both had garlic mushrooms to start which were devine and then I had somerset chicken which melted in my mouth. My husband had the Sirloin Steak which just fell apart.
I would def recommend this pub for the food, the serivce and the welcome.
We had 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 drinks and it came to £50.03
Excellent value for money and will def return here.

“Busy but nothing special”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

A Very busy Saturday and we were accommodated very easily, a table of four was quickly found. We'd been before albeit quite some years ago and been disappointed but the atmosphere on this night seemed indicate that it had changed.
The service was slow which may have been hampered by the busy Saturday night with few tables free - there are a lot of tables though and maybe not enough staff? The teenagers were getting a tad impatient but as we'd only ordered main course we thought we'd be served quicker. When food did arrive the portions were good and the food hot - although the waitress did seem to be working extremely hard to keep up with demand. We decided not to stay for desert as it was getting too late to continue to eat - as the title says it's a busy place on a Saturday with a lot of what seems regular local clientele who are happy to wait but not a place for a quiet family meal.

“We will return”
Reviewed June 8, 2013

Lovely relaxed atmosphere, very old pub with slate floors and huge fireplace. Lots of seating and tables and chairs not too crowded in. Made a reservation as it was a hot sunny day and there was a birthday in the family. Made very welcome and the reason we chose to go there was because it was family friendly. The food was fantastic, very tasty, could not fault anything. Kiddies plates clean. Would recommend the White Lion. On the way home in the car my husband said it was the best pub meal he had ever had.
