My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights with our 10 month old in July. The room we had was clean and had everything we needed. The views across the countryside and onto the coast were stunning. Lynn and bill were very hospitable and couldn't do enough for us. They were especially good with our baby girl and made every effort to make our stay as simple as possible. THank you.

This was our second visit, and it was nice to see that Lynne and Bill remembered us,we were made welcome with tea and cake in the morning room.We stayed in the Red Kite room on the ground floor,a large and comfortable room with excellent shower en-suit.The choice of breakfast was amazing from continental to a full English and plenty of fresh fruit.Bill and Lynne are perfect hosts and will go out of their way to help in any way,so much so that we have already booked for next year, look forward to seeing you then. After reading all the excellent comments and ratings on here we booked 2 nights in the Deicin room and were certainly not disappointed! As soon as we arrived we were warmly greeted and shown to our room which was absolutely stunning! The views out to sea and over the hills were amazing, the bathroom was gorgeous and the room itself was so spacious and bright. Didn't want to get out of bed in the morning, it was so comfy! Lynne and Bill were wonderful hosts, the breakfasts were amazing and nothing was too much trouble! Bill even made sure we had freshly caught mackerel to take home with us! I can't recommend this B&B enough and can't wait to return there soon!

Room Tip: We chose the Deicin room which overlooked the hills and sea, had a double and single bed and was a s...

If you insist on reading TripAdvisor to endorse your choice of accommodation ensure that you note the consistency of all the excellent comments. Because EXCELLENT is exactly what it is. The website is an accurate and true reflection of the facility including the surrounding area. What is not visible on the website is the outstanding customer service and attention to detail that you WILL receive throughout your stay. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

The food was outstanding.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights. As soon as we arrived we were made to feel very welcome showed to our room which was the Cypress room which is very well decorated and great use of space. Loved the bathroom! bed was really comfortable and pillows and bedding great. The only thing I would say is if you are tall dont' pick this room because of the slope on the ceiling on the one side. but if you look at the website you will see they have a choice of rooms or if your unsure just phone lyn and bill. i was more than happy with this room and this is not a critisism. also as soon as we arrived we were offered tea or coffee with bara brith a lovely touch, which we had in the garden. Breakfast was lovely and such a great choice as much toast fruit etc as you want. I find some comments harsh as Lyn and Bill couldn't of been more accommodating. Very friendly. Nothing was too much trouble if we needed anything we only had to ask. we did go to the mill on way back Bill! so Richard could get his porridge. We will be back hopefully with my parents. Thankyou for a great stay! xxxx

My wife and I along with our daughter and two small grandchildren aged 4 and 6 stayed at the Merwerydd guest house for two nights on the 24th and 25th July.
We chose the location as a result of the excellent reviews on Tripadvisor
My wife and I had the Red kite room, and our daughter and the boys had room number 2 I think that is the Cyprus view room.

The Red Kite Room is on the ground floor with a lovely view across fields to Cardigan Bay, the comment by the reviewer below about car headlights etc, didnt affect us, but it would not because the room has blinds and curtains, anyway I digress, the view was lovely.
The room was large and very comfortable, the en suite was fine, with a large shower. The bed was soft but very comfortable.
Bill and Lynn were excellent hosts, who provided a drink of tea and coffee on arrival along with cake, they also fussed over the children providing anything they wanted, we were made to feel very welcome. Bill gave us advice when asked about parking etc in New Quay and the best places to eat..
The breakfasts were very good, and again nothing was to much trouble, catering for the grandchildren was difficult due to changes of mind but they just sorted everything.
The boys were allowed to run around the largish garden and even encouraged to play football there, again we were treated like friends not guests.

My daughter thought there room was great and had no complaints.

So why so close to excellent, well just a couple of things we thought would have made it excellent...when we unpacked my wife found the plastic tumbler for the toothbrushes had already been used and was stained, so we threw it away. aslo there were two smallish towels...and a face towel provided for two people, the towels were not really big enough and were certainly not bath towels, I am sure had we asked for more they would have been provided, also we felt that the towels were not replaced after there use but folded and placed back on the rail, so when we used them the next day they were still damp.We dont mind using them twice but not when damp.

These are minor things, and maybe an oversight, everything else about the guest house was great.Would we stop there again.. yes we would, would we recommend it, yes we would.

As I write this review I wonder if I am being too harsh, but those two things stopped the review being excellent.

Thanks for a great time Bill and Lynn I know we enjoyed it and so did my daughter and grandkids.

Thank you for your great review we are so glad you and the children enjoyed your stay with us. I do remember the towels, they had been washed and dried outside, and although it was sunny, nothing dried properly, maybe the humidity - my mistake I thought they would be ok. Hopefully we will see you all again. Best regards Lynn and Bill

My husband and I were in Mid Wales last week for what was supposed to be a lovely bit of r an r,unfortunately 1} we picked the Merwerydd and 2]we had a very serious family illness and had to return early.
We just cannot believe that so many of the things on their website, including very misleading photos and downright lies told to us about services available, and then when we had to leave under very traumatic circumstances to be addressed.....'I think there's something wrong with your hearing..Lady!!!!!] well.........................
I was told on the phone that FREE sandwiches would be made for us at night as we like to go out in the day then stay in to relax and enjoy the garden at night, also told wine and beers were available in the lounge......did I say lounge??..with an honesty box for the RNLI.........total rubbish.
Firstly there was no lounge..it's a smallish room[advertised as morning room]which has 1 sofa and 2 dining tables[which obscure the view from the patio doors] 1 sofa for 4 rooms!!.Next there was no honesty box and you had to ask for wine which in the end we were demanded £12...from an UNLICENSED ESTABLISHMENT!! they also wanted £5 each for 2 meagre sandwiches!! Also tried to get an extra night out of us even though the website states 24hrs for early cancellation, they TRIED to get 48!! Also as we left the door was slammed so hard behind us I wonder if it's still on it's hinges! Oh yes and the 'dining room' is a vestibule as you enter.
A lot of the website photos are very misleading, letting you think you are next to fields and a stud, you are by 1 field but it's behind a large hedge, everything else is across the VERY busy A487.The Red Kite room on the ground floor is right in front of you as you drive in so headlights would shine right in and it has no privacy at all.
The 'sink' in the Cardigan Bay room is smaller than a shoe box....seriously!
The breakfast cereals etc were laid out in the morning/lounge area....along with the 1 sofa and 2 tables[tables not in their photo!]
Average breakfast but no Special K.Everything else about the room was nice, lovely bedding and comfy chairs.
Needless to say we won't return....lol!!

We are sorry you had to leave in a such a hurry, giving us notice at 6 pm, on your second night. We only charged for that night, even though our cancellation policy is 48 hrs. You were not charged for pots of tea, sandwiches or drinks and we even made you sandwiches for your journey home! We feel your bitter comments were unjustified and unfair and we believe our other 83 reviews speak for themselves and show a true reflection of Merwerydd. But we understand you were in a stressful situation and wish you all the best for the future.
