“Wonderful!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2012

My husband and I stayed here for a week (18/10 to 25/10) whilst house-hunting in the local area. What a beautiful place Merwerydd is and you really couldn't hope to meet more charming and welcoming hosts than Lynn and Bill. Nothing is too much trouble for them - they really care about their guests! On arrival you sit down to a very welcome cup of tea and a slice of bara brith - a lovely touch! The views from the house over fields to the sea are wonderful, the rooms really comfortable and recently renovated with first rate bathrooms, excellent breakfast included and dinner well worth booking and staying in for. The ratio of guestrooms to reception rooms meant that we most often found ourselves in a "private" dining room for breakfast and dinner - a really special facility which adds an extra feeling of luxury. Lynn's cooking is excellent and we so enjoyed Bill's anecdotes - they are both such lovely people - the essence of what makes this place really very special. To mention just one example of their professionalism and thoughtfulness - we happened to mention to Bill that we couldn't get Radio 4 on the TV in the room, which was disappointing as we like the Today programme in the mornings. Not only did Bill have the TV sorted out by the time we got back a little while later but the next morning, and each morning thereafter, we had a radio at our breakfast table tuned to Radio 4! Overall, what was actually a really busy, tiring and quite stressful week for us was more than tempered by our stay with such kind people, serving delicious food in attractive and soothing surroundings. I'm almost afraid to write this for fear that it might become too popular, but that would be selfish. Don't hesitate to book. These hosts and this place are gems!

Myself, wife and daughter stayed here for one night prior to visiting Aber Uni Open Day. The owners were very friendly, the ensuite room was very good, and the breakfast was excellent. Would definitely recommend this place for short stays.

Room Tip: Lovely view from 1st floor room

Put simply, this was the best B+B of our 2 week tour of Ireland and Wales. The hospitality was fantastic, the rooms were furnished with high quality bedding, and the breakfast was superb. A hidden gem.

Great location between Aberaeron and New Quay with views over the fields to the sea. Very friendly and helpful hosts. The bedroom and bathroom were comfortable, clean and new (having been recently renovated). Nicely cooked and presented hearty breakfast. Highly recommended.

My husband and I stayed at this gorgeous B&B for two nights, for our 3rd wedding anniversary. Right from the very first moment Lynn gave us a wonderfully warm welcome, showed us to to our room (we stayed in Deicin View room) and offered us some tea and delicious welsh cake (can't remember the name of it but it was scrummy). We were very impressed with the bedroom. It is spacious and would suit a family but it was great having the space to ourselves. The decor is modern yet homey and has a lovely little window seat to sit and admire the stunning views! On a sunny day we were able to see Cardigan bay, but even in the rain the views of the rolling green hills beyond are equally as good. The en-suite is just perfect and has a rainfall shower which was great! Our only minor issue was the mattress was a little soft but we do prefer a hard mattress and I'm sure it would be suitable to others. The entire B&B was impeccably clean and decorated beautifully. The are two separate dining areas, we were lucking enough to have the one closer to the kitchen more often than not, which was lovely for just the two of us, and again had fabulous views (as did the other). Lynn does all her own home cooking and we thoroughly enjoyed her food! This B&B ticks all the boxes of great accommodation, perfect location (quiet yet close to all you need), clean and hygienic, warm yet modern decor, delicious home cooked food and excellent service. But what makes it just that extra bit special to other B&Bs, is Lynn and Bill. They are a genuine, lovely, caring, couple who go the extra mile, making each and every customer feel very much at home whilst attending to your every need! I was ill one evening and we had to cancel our meal we had booked at a local restaurant. I felt very looked after, Lynn arranged us a yummy dinner at very short notice, nothing was too much trouble. We felt very spoilt and touched by their care, warmth and generosity. They are also very knowledgeable about the local area and were able to recommend a variety of different things for us to do. We spent the remainder of our week in a different part of Wales and we both wished that we could have rather spent the week at this B&B. We will most certainly be recommending this B&B to all our friends and family (as it will suit the needs of everyone, whether it be a business trip, couples, young families), and we can't wait to return!!!!! Thank you Lynn and Bill for making it a stay to remember.

The welcome we received cannot be faulted, complete with tea and bara brith. The house is in a lovely location with views across Cardigan Bay. We stayed in the 'Cardigan Bay' room. We would not recommend this room for tall people as the sloping ceilings will mean bumped heads and stooping. Also, the en-suite (cubicle shower) contains a sink that is tiny and virtually un-usable due to a cupboard directly above. There is no shelf space near the sink for your toiletries, toothbrush, etc. The shower has only an overhead drench fitting. Again if you are not a small person there is very little room for drying off. In the bedroom, to compensate for the sloping ceilings, the bed is a mattress in a tray directly on the floor with the headboard against the window wall and so to look out of the window, to appreciate the view, you need to kneel on the bed. On the plus side, if you do look out, you might just see a Red Kite hovering immediately outside as we did - fantastic! Didn't realise that there were no spare pillows until in bed and found that they were needed. There is no plug near a mirror. There are tea/coffee making facilities but the UHT milk cartons spoil this. The room does contain an easy chair too. Be aware that there is a little traffic noise from the busy road outside - didn't disturb us greatly. Everything is immaculately clean. You are encouraged to order breakfast the evening before using a provided tick-box menu list. The breakfast is of lmited choice but freshly prepared / cooked and tasty - the fruit salad was particularly good and the large Welsh cooked comes as two sausages, two bacon slices, one mushroom and half a large tomato with a home grown egg (prepared as you like it - just write it on the form). We received good and helpful advice about local amenities, including the brilliant suggestion of visiting New Quay to see the dolphins from the harbour wall - which we did and they were there back flipping, leaping and swimming - truly wonderful. The parking is tight if its a full house and access on to the main road is tricky with mandatory use of the across road mirror, which is fine, but you must take care.
Would definately recommend staying here, but in a different room.

Thank you for your positive points and we are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Many of our reviews were from guests also using this room, they loved the room, the views, the large headed power shower and the comfortable leather bed (quite standard, on wooden feet - although a little lower than an old traditional bed). Our aim is to make everyone's stay comfortable and enjoyable, but we do realise we can't please everyone, all of the time, so we wish you all the very best.Regards Lynn and Bill
