Food good .... Staff excellent.... Room above par for the price.... Downside...!
Pub toilet downstairs was very urinal in odour... A few of thoe's toilet mint cakes would alleviate the problem... All in all ... An ok place... With room for improvement however well worth a try......;)

We travelled with the people in room 4 who have also reviewed this hotel "Pigeon Poo!!". We stayed in room 2 for two nights (Fri and Sat). As mentioned in other reviews, the manager was friendly and the pub downstairs was ok but the room was horrible. When we first got to the room, there was a dirty glass on the bedside table with a dirty cotton wool pad floating in water! We were also welcomed with a strong smell of chip fat in the room coming from the air vent outside the window. The room was dingy looking and very hot, so we had to keep the window open to attempt to stay cool, but the smell was really bad. We were then woken up around 6am to the fluttering birds!! It really was impossible to sleep through it, at several points I thought a pigeon had got into our room, it was certainly trying to!! There was poo everywhere outside the window and there were several birds getting up to no good, I guess they were attracted to the food smell. My partner got really angry at one point and started rustling a plastic bag out the window to scare them off! On the last day as we were packing, I noticed the bedding had come away from the inner duvet and the duvet was grey with dirt! We also noticed that the sofa downstairs in the pub smelt of onions, we thought it was one of us until we moved away! I think this is a friendly pub, but needs vast improvements to call itself a hotel. We didn't even stay for breakfast, we were desperate for fresh air and a good nights sleep back at home.

Room Tip: If you are going to stay here, don't go in room 2 or 4.

The Monachty is basically a harbour side pub with rooms in the beautiful seaside town of Aberaeron. We were located in Room 2 which was large, clean and had a comfortable bed. Unfortunately the kitchen was located outside the window and was not switched off until after 10 o'clock and came on again at seven in the morning. The roof space outside the window was covered in all sorts of unpleasant detritus!. We were warmly welcomed by the manager, shown to our room and warned about the fan. We had an evening meal with some friends and the quality varied from excellent to indifferent. The manager herself served an excellent breakfast (there were obviously severe staffing problems). We discussed the issue of the fan with the manager (it did rather spoil our evening) and she was very sympathetic and reduced our bill to £50 which was reasonable value for money. The staffing difficulties obviously affected the quality of service but the manager's attitude meant that we went away feeling positive rather than negative about our visit. We would certainly book here again but not in room number 2!

Room Tip: Avoid room 2

£50 a night for 2 guess I shouldn't have expected too much. The greeting was fine although was never explained to us about after a certain time you can't use front door so have to use the back so was outside looking to get in for half an hour........ Rooms were absolutely roasting and it wasn't even a particular hot day........ we were in room four...... as it was so hot we had to
Sleep with windows open.... 6am woken up to what seemed like flocks of pigeons coming and going every 3 seconds.... Very noisy..... and next to I think kitchen generator.... Avoid room four and outside window lots and lots of bird poo!!!!!! £25 a head a night b&b guess its hard to get that sort of price anywhere anymore..... But that shows the quality of sleep I just didn't get!!!!!!!

We booked 2 rooms this B&B for one night July 11. This B&B is a 2 story building with bar and restaurant at the ground floor and accommodations at the first floor. The noise from the bar wouldn't affect the room much. The location was fantastic, about 1 minute walk from the seafront. The room price was cheap. 1 room was 50 and the other 60. Both rooms were very clean. Beds were comfortable. Have no problem with the hot water. Staffs were all friendly and helpful. The best thing was that the bar has a large outdoor space at the rear showing the view of the harbour.

The ONLY downside of the B&B was its poor breakfast, lack of choices and low quality coffee, bacon and sausage. However, for the price we paid, it's a good value B&B.
