We are a 16th Centuary traditional Welsh Pub with many original features & beer garden. We serve delicious locally sourced food including meat from Brecon & sea food from a local Fish Monger. We also cater well for vegetarians & vegans If you are walking the local waterfalls or the Dinas Rock or visiting local caves, visiting Penderyn Distillery, nearby Pen Y Fan or any of our surrounding areas such as Brecon, Hay on Wye, Abergavenny, Merthyr Tydfil, Neath, Swansea, Cardiff & many others please visit us, you can be assured of a hearty meal, a friendly welcome & a pint of local ale. We are dog friendly & have camping facilities (please enquire over the phone of in the pub). Please note we are small country pub but we can get very busy particularly on weekends so if you can make a reservation we strongly advise it to avoid disappointment. Please note we cook only a Sunday Roast on Sunday's as we do not have the facilities to run a menu as well. We stop cooking Sunday Roast around 4.00pm we then serve from 4.30pm - 7.30pm a limited menu consisting of locally sourced pies, peas & mash (vegan & veggie options) OR homemade curry & chips.

Miserable owner/chef who needs to work on both his manner and his cooking! I am surprised he has any staff after hearing him speak to his barmaid The pub was both cold and slightly grubby, not very welcoming at all. The food was very poor, the chicken was dry and the chips tasted as though they had been cooked twice( at least my 2 spaniels enjoyed the chicken ). Certainly not a place I would recommend to anyone I liked. My wife who is a trained chef was disgusted by the standard of food and service

“Delicious food, lovely location.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 30, 2013

We stumbled across the New Inn during a drive through the Beacons. We were too late for lunch but the chef/owner said he didn't want to turn us away hungry and could do us ham and eggs. This was fine by us, and we were soon served a hearty, generous portioned and delicious meal washed down with good cider.
The Inn is in an idyllic setting, the decor is charming and the landlord was friendly and entertaining. Recommended.

“Extremely good food in a traditional lovley old pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 27, 2013

I'm fortunate enough with my job to eat at some of best restaurants (celeb cheffy type places). The food at the New Inn is always comparable in quality. Always very very good. The location is idyllic so rural and the place is definitely well worth a visit. You will not be disappointed it is an incredibly calming and relaxing place. I will be visiting again soon.

“Well worth a visit!”

Not sure why there are such mixed reviews....perhaps some people just like to complain?
This is the first review I have ever written and I'm very pleased to reccomend The New Inn to any passing traveller.
We stumbled upon this hidden gem by chance, and took the opportunity for an early Sunday lunch in preperation for our waterfall walk.
We were made to feel very welcome. The food was lovely, with very generous portions. We were spoilt for choice with the speciallity ciders, roast dinners and tempting deserts.
We really enjoyed our meals, the warm hospitality and a warm by the fire. Carl is very hard working and willing to please.
As this pub is very close to the waterfalls, some additional signs around the waterfall carparks may help tempt and direct passing trade.

“A Lovely relaxing afternoon at the New Inn, Ystradfellte”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 17, 2013

After a long walk at the waterfalls we once again visited The New Inn. We were warmly welcomed by Carl and Dave and a roaring, homely fire.
We enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch which was clearly made with fresh, local produce. The pork was succulent with crispy home made roast potatoes and homemade yorkshires as well as
a tasty, rich home made gravy.
It is always a pleasure to visit the place and in the past we have seen Damien Lewis (Homeland Star) and his wife Helen McCrory (starof Skyfall etc)If it's good enough for them.....
We finished the meal with an extensive selection of cheeses which were washed down with a glass of port.
I highly reccommend that you visit the place, it's a great was to relax in a spectacular setting. We will definitely be returning soon.
