“Just ok”
Reviewed November 12, 2012 via mobile

We stopped here for breakfast. I was at first a little bummed by the small breakfast menu, having expected a cafe that serves food to typically have more breakfast options but it wasn't a big deal. I had a bagle and hummus & my husband had a breakfast burrito. They were both very good. He enjoyed his coffee but my chai latte was probably the worst I've ever had. It barely tasted like chai or even much like milk. There just wasn't much flavor to it at all.

The place is pretty cool, with a lot of eclectic decor and seating. There's also a little gift shop inside.

Don't miss that the drink cooler by the register also has some food items. For example, I noticed after we ordered that there were some yogurt & granola parfaits that I didn't see on the menu.

“Memphis at its coolest!”
Reviewed October 10, 2012

I have been traveling to Memphis frequently the past several months. My favorite hangout and work is Otherlands. This seems to be the epicenter of the hip and aware in Memphis. I love it as well that the place helps promote the whole sustainability movement that Memphis as a city seems to embrace wholeheartedly. The staff is extremely nice and efficient, as is the owner Karen, who does her best to make sure that her guests are comfortable in one of the spacious rooms. For those that need to spend some hours there working or writing, there is complimentary WIFI with electrical outlets at almost every table. If you find yourself in Memphis and want to meet interesting locals, this is the place to be. Oh yeah, the smoothies are amazing as is the banana bread (toasted just the way I like it!). The prices on all the food items are quite affordable. My only suggestion is that the coffee (while good with complimentary refills) is not Colombe. If Karen served my favorite brand of coffee, the line would be out the door to wake up in the morning, as it is in Manhattan wherever Colombe is served.

“Too Out there!!!”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

Drinks were way too Blaaaaah. Food is mediocre at best. Although lot of seating inside, still seems hard to find a place let alone a seat with a power source. I would plan to keep driving onto a starbucks!

“Memphis Locals Spot”
Reviewed August 4, 2012

Favorite coffee bar in Memphis and perhaps the US. There is nothing quite like it, but it is a locals spot and there is a wide range of different types of people who visit it. Late night music and friendly staff makes it a great place to go. Not to mention anything with their 'secret sauce' is to die for. They even have a neat gift shop.

“Real coffee in a great neighborhood in general with lots of funky repurposed businesses.”

Large artsy space. Solid coffee; music with the right vibe as you would come to expect in this city which adds to the flavor.
