Talbot Heirs Guesthouse
Ranked #1 of 18 Memphis B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed July 26, 2013

I can’t say enough good things about Talbot Heirs. This is undoubtedly the best hotel/guesthouse at which I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying. The location can’t be beat; it’s in the heart of Memphis and within walking distance to anything you need downtown. The inn consists of just eight rooms which were formally studio apartments, and the owners, who live on site, will even shop for your groceries and stock your kitchen before you arrive if you provide them with a list. (Included with the room were bottled water, orange juice, coffee, biscotti, oatmeal, milk and cereal for two people. Whatever you use will be replaced the next day at no additional cost.) Each room is cozy, unique, and beautifully decorated (we stayed in room 8 and loved it).

The best thing about this place is the genuine pride, care, and service that the owners, Tom and Sandy, exhibit. You won’t find this level of service anywhere, not even at the (much more expensive) Peabody across the street. Upon our arrival, Tom was waiting outside for us and actually got into the car to show us to the parking garage. He carried our luggage to the room, showed us around, and then spent a good 10 minutes talking to us about our plans and providing recommendations for things to do and places to eat. Every time we saw him throughout the weekend, he’d stop and make conversation and ask us how things were going.

At only $20 more than the Holiday Inn on the next block, and almost $100 cheaper than the Peabody across the street, this is absolutely the best place to stay in Memphis. Charming, quirky, comfortable (oh, how I miss that bed!), affordable, and a wonderful experience. It really says a lot about a hotel when it becomes a major highlight of your trip. If we’re ever in Memphis again, I know where we’ll be staying.

This place is by far the absolute BEST!!!! Tom and Sandy are so friendly, helpful, and accommodating. From the start they made us feel welcome -- like old friends. We enjoyed 4 wonderful nights there. Everything about it was absolutely perfect. We loved the room. What a treat to have our own little balcony in the middle of the city! The location was ideal!! We arrived in Memphis by train and we never had to take a taxi. Talbot Heirs was within walking distance of everything! This was the best vacation ever! Thanks, Tom & Sandy! We really want to come back!

Service, style, warmth, & comfort are the essential ingredients for Talbot Heirs. From Tom meeting us at the curb to Sandy's smile to Tara's outstanding talents, this place was great. It is centrally located being close to Beale Street, trolley cars, and major highways. My wife & I spent three nights there and loved it. We highly recommend staying here!!

My husband and I spent 3 nights at the Talbot Heirs and loved everything about it - location, hosts, room, art! We were greeted by Tom and Sandy's friend Jerry who gave us great tips for dining and getting around. The atmosphere is wonderfully relaxing.

My friend and I stayed at Talbot Heirs on the start of our blues highway roadtrip. We were fortunate enough to be here for 3 nights and it was fantastic. The suite was spacious, homely, comfortable, and clean. The location is about as perfect as you can get. A stones thrown from many great restaurants, walking distance from Beale St and other iconic Memphis locations, but still far away from the hub bub of downtown Memphis to be a quiet retreat for overnight. The owners, Tom and Sandy, are the most welcoming of hosts and provide you with great conversation as well as assorted breakfast goodies. After speaking with Tom on arrival he realised we enjoyed a beer so even provided us with a six pack free of charge for us to enjoy. I cant speak highly enough of the place and the hosts, so if you are going to Memphis, do yourself a favor, and stay at Talbot Heirs Guesthouse!!

We stayed at Talbot Heirs while on a trip around the American South from England. Tom and Sandy, the hosts, are lovely - very friendly and laid back. We stayed in Suite 3, which was great - and huge. It made us slow our pace as it was just nice to spend time there. The snacks left in the kitchen area each day were very welcome - though we were eating plenty at all other times too! Location is great - very close to Beale Street, but still quiet. Next door to the Flying Fish too which is worth a trip. Lovely, thanks!

A spacious, genteel cool comfortable oasis after running around Memphis. The owners are equally cool, helpful, friendly, charming. Great local artwork adorns their walls and halls, quiet atmosphere, so close to attractions only needed to get out the car once from the parking lost half a block away. Felt safe and pampered and would come back in a heartbeat.
