After reading the reviews I made my reservation at the River Inn. And I was not disappointed. We stayed for three nights and had a gorgeous suite over looking the Mississippi. What a view!
The room was across the street from the office and located over Tugs ( sort of a sports bar - had drinks but did not eat there although the food looked really good). On the check in side of the hotel a fine dining restaurant (Paulette's) is located. We had dinner there one night - food was very good and there is a lobby bar. Upstairs on the fourth floor is a place not to be missed - Terraces with outstanding views of the Mississippi. They have windows that open on good weather days and close on the not so good - but the views never change. There is also a park with walking paths located across the street for those of you who need some exercise to justify all the wonderful food in Memphis. And before I forget breakfast comes with the room at Paulette's and it is fabulous.

This is a beautiful hotel and caters to the adult crowd - nicely decorated and quiet. And the staff could not be more accommodating.

This will be our hotel for future visits to Memphis.

PS I forgot to mention the welcome drink and Port and chocolates every night!

Room Tip: Rooms with a view of the Mississippi are the best!

This hotel is located directly across from the Mississippi River in an upscale part of town away from the hustle and bustle of Beale Street. (If you are looking for tours this could be a disadvantage as most of the tour companies do not pick up at this location). There is a walking path just outside the door that goes along the river. To get to the downtown area you would probably need to drive or use a taxi.

The staff are very friendly. Our room seemed quite cramped due to all the furniture including a 4 poster bed in the room. Perhaps only one of the desk or table is needed. The linen and towels were superb.

The included breakfast at Pauline's was outstanding. Our favorite was the blueberry pancakes. The service was excellent.

The 'business centre' had a computer that was so slow it was basically unusable. The telephones in our rooms did not work for any outside calls. The front desk staff did offer to make the calls and then connect to our room but this was annoying. For most people today travelling with a smartphone this would not be an inconvenience but unfortunately for us we are not in this category.

The turn down service at night with a glass of port and a truffle was a nice touch. We also enjoyed the piano player in the lobby in the evening.

My wife and I treated ourselves to a stay at this boutique hotel that overlooks the Mississippi River in a charming location. After we checked in we were treated to our choice of white or red wine or Champagne. Cozy lounge, bar, and a choice of 3 restaurants. Excellent coffee shop down the street. Most comfortable bed and pillows of our 3-week trip. Turn-down service included chocolates and port wine. Breakfast at Paulette's (included with the room) was gourmet. Service was excellent. Spoiled for life!

We traveled to Memphis for the NCAA Regional Basketball Tournament. I selected the River Inn, a boutique hotel on Mud Island, near downtown. Located in a nice condo and Townhome community, the hotel was very nice with a European feel. A full breakfast accompanied our reservation in their gourmet restaurant, Paulette's, was excellent! Freshly baked muffins and croissants and outstanding service; made our stay! I liked the towels so much I found them on Amazon and sent them as a gift. The bar and grill, Tugs, was also nice and delicious. Free parking and wireless, nice view of the Mississippi, and close enough to Beale Street but not stuck downtown with the crowds and tourists. Everyone on staff was very nice and we look forward to staying here again when we return to Memphis.

We stayed at River Inn of Harbor Town for 7nights, March 12th to March 19th, This hotel was one of the nicest we have ever stayed at.
From the moment we arrived we were greeted by two lovely young men on the front desk and were welcomed with a glass of Champaign or Wine, which was nice after such a long flight from the U.K.
We were given our room keys and went straight up to our rooms on the second floor where we saw the most beautiful rooms and a view of the Mississippi river with the sun just setting( which made it more spectacular I must say), the four poster bed was huge and very high to get into but after the first night, you become accustom to being high up off the floor. The beds themselves were the best we have ever slept in, they were sooooooo! comfortable we did not have to try hard to get to sleep, also the rooms were very quiet so no problems there!
I have to agree with other reviews about this hotel, The morning coffee on each of the floors was very nice...... but I personally would have preferred to have had tea & coffee making facilities in our room but this is just a small item.
The room rate included breakfast in Paulettes restaurant situated within the hotel..... well all three of us have to say a big WELL DONE!!! to Patrick and the other servers, you really did make our breakfast so enjoyable and its a breath of fresh air to see and feel that you all enjoy your jobs and really care about your guests, so Patrick a big " hello " from Queen Rose and her two friends and a big thankyou for making us feel very special.
Would we recommend The River Inn? Yes absolutely without a doubt, we had a lovely vacation and the hotel had a big hand in making it a trip to remeber

Room Tip: all rooms we saw were lovely, but try to get a river view the sunsets were beautiful to see

The Inn is located on Mud Island, about a 10-minute ride from Beale Street and the heart of downtown Memphis. You can get a beautiful room overlooking the Mississippi and walk across the street to the riverside park. The hotel has three EXCELLENT restaurants: one for fine dining, one for more casual fare and a third on the roof for tapas and drinks. The rooms are spacious with all the modern conveniences. The hotel is not cheap, but is worth every penny. The staff are friendly and most accommodating.

Room Tip: The two penthouse suites are gorgeous.
