Being greeted at check-in with a glass of Champagne started the ball rolling! A great choice of various breakfast items included in the price of the room! Staff were genuinely friendly and helpful from the get-go. Though the hotel was renovating during our stay, they upgraded our reservation without asking. Small but functional lobby with comfortable chairs and a piano. Very cute little bar. Rooms though small, were well appointed with a four poster bed and very nice bed linens. Turn down service every night included chocolates and a small carafe of PORT- for heavens sakes! Small reading area on the second floor for relaxing and morning coffee stations situated on each floor serving REAL coffee. Supper in the restaurant was excellent as well. Complimentary newspapers in the lobby. All 'round a very very nice experience highly recommended.

Room Tip: We were upgraded to a Jr. suite on the second floor with a view of the mighty Mississippi

I have stayed at this hotel numerous occasions since they opened skipping all the big name hotels in Memphis. Travel regularly to this area and have always chosen The River Inn because of their exceptional customer service and attention to detail at every level. Traveling all over and constantly staying at the big name hotels, I have never encountered a hotel that is 5 start across every category, especially with House Keeping. With each stay at this hotel Dora and Lisa always seem to elevate and offer superior service time and time again keeping my room impeccable and relaxing.

Room Tip: Breakfast is free in the morning and it is totally the best hotel breakfast around!

If you want service, attention to detail, great food, and a beautiful location--head out of downtown Memphis and drive across the bridge to the River Inn. Wow! Beautiful rooms and nicely appointed lobby. The "Little Bar" is nice. The terrace on the third floor will be renovated and open in October 2013. Fresh flowers. Staff who can't do enough for you (even provided a heated muffin and croissant, and fresh fruit for us when we left at 4:20 am to catch our plane). Light bulb changed within 20 minutes. BIG bathroom with everything we needed, including a make-up washcloth and magnifying mirror. We can't wait to return. Oh! each floor has a "library" sitting area with coffee available by 6:30. Can you tell we loved it? Fitness club available down the street with weights and fitness classes. These guys think of everything!

Room Tip: We loved 206; beautiful view.

On a road trip of the south east US we wanted one night in something different - elegant and charming. We found it here -excellent location, great staff and although expensive well worth the money. We could look out over the Mississippi from our room.
Breakfast which is included was memorably good and free wifi fast and reliable. Dining in Paulette's restaurant is worth another memorable review on its own.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the Mississippi!

The River Inn of Harbor Town is a fabulous place to stay in Memphis. It is in a great, safe location and our room had gorgeous views of the majestic Mississippi River. The room was very comfortable, tastefully decorated and clean. On each floor, the elevator opens onto a little “library” area with comfortable chairs and coffee. There is a lovely bar and sitting area in the lobby with live piano each night. Unfortunately, the roof terrace was under construction while we were there, so we did not get to go up for the views, but we took a lovely stroll along the river instead, which was probably better for us anyway than just sitting and looking at the river. The rate included a breakfast each morning at the restaurant downstairs where you can choose anything you like off their menu. The food was delicious. The staff was very cordial and helpful. I would highly recommend The River Inn at Harbor Town- we thoroughly enjoyed the city of Memphis and this hotel was one of the reasons!

River Inn is the best hotel I've ever stayed in. The view of the Mississippi River from the hotel is just beautiful and serene. The hotel is small and has an intimate feel. It's very upscale and you're pampered by all the staff from the moment you check in. The gorgeous wood furniture throughout makes you feel as though you are in an antebellum mansion set on the banks of the Mississippi. My husband and I stayed one weekend. Breakfast at the restaurant downstairs was included in our reservation. It was also fabulous. If you want to go somewhere for a special occasion and are looking for something romantic and different, I most highly recommend the River Inn. It is expensive, but well worth it for a get-away you won't soon forget!
Also, be sure to drive around Harbor Town and take a look at all the beautiful homes. Another "must" is to step into Mrs. Cordelia's Grocery. They have gourmet food and a great deli in the back with all kinds of specialty sandwiches, sides, and desserts.)

Room Tip: Rooms that face the river for the view.

This was a beautifully decorated boutique hotel, which catered well to the needs of its guests. Our corner room was really big, with 3 large windows and a huge comfortable 4 poster bed. There were lovely fluffy robes and a turn down service with port and chocolates to end your evening and a delicious, multi-course breakfast to start your day. The staff were very attentive and the hotel is very deserving of its rating. The only complaint I have is that the work on the roof terrace was really noisy during the day and whilst this may now be complete for many visitors who read this review, it was not tranquil for anyone wishing to take an afternoon nap amidst the constant drilling.

If you are not travelling by car or taxi, the hotel is about a 10 min walk to the trams, over a fairly steep bridge. The trams run up and down Main St, passing Beale St and The Civil Rights Museum.

Room Tip: If you ask the hotel to book a taxi for you to the airport or train station etc, make sure you ask f...
