2 nights here in suite 402. Perfect. Lovely, spacious, elegant accommodations and exceptional service. Wonderful view of the Mississippi from our room and adjacent roof top cafe/bar. Evening pianist in lobby adjacent to Little Bar a Memphis gem... Thank you Laura!!! Left the car on the street and taxi'd into town each night... 5 minutes and a delight. Best accommodations in Memphis.

Room Tip: Facing the Mississippi

We stayed at the River Inn last month and found it to be an absolute gem - close enough to walk to the trolley terminal but in a tranquil and beautiful setting away from the bustle of the city.

Service was excellent throughout our stay and Pawel, our waiter at breakfast, deserves a special mention. His kindness and genuine concern for us on our onward journey to New Orleans will be something that we will always remember

We would not hesitate to return to the River Inn and would recommend it unreservedly

If you are headed to Memphis, the River Inn of Harbor Town is a great choice! My husband and I flew into the Dewitt Spain Airport, just minutes away and arrived to a very friendly welcome by Jessica and they other girls at the front desk. They were very accommodating and made us feel right at home! Our room was on the 2nd floor (Suite 204) with a beautiful view of the river. Every morning was a treat to wake up and look outside! The beds and linen were very comfortable and the drapes thick so you could pull them tight to create a great sleeping room. The bathroom was nice and loved the shower head with great water pressure. The bathrooms too were well lit.

Enjoyed the port wine and chocolate every evening for the turn down service. Nice touch! No coffee in the room, but right outside our door was a small sitting area with lots of good books and coffee was served there with real cream. So you could walk right out your room and grab your coffee, which was very good! Also, our room included a complimentary breakfast in Paulette's, the restaurant in the lobby. If you like breakfast, don't skip it. We were warmly welcomed by Patrick, our waiter. He really has Southern Charm and makes you feel special! We had the eggs Benedict with freshly squeezed orange juice and freshly baked pastries.

Afternoons, make sure you hit the rooftop bar. Its a great spot especially as the sun goes down. The bartender told us they plan to enclose the rooftop bar but will have plenty of windows that will open as I would imagine during August it would be hot. Can't wait to see what they do.

If you are a runner or walker, bring your running shoes! Right outside the hotel along the river is a wide sidewalk perfect for running or walking.

Room Tip: We had Suite 204 overlooking the river that was very nice. Might try the 3rd floor next time!

We absolutely loved this hotel. We stayed here for the last two days of our holiday and it was a brilliant finish. We arrived early and the hotel bent over backwards to get our room ready. When we did check in we were offered champagne or an alternative drink and from the minute we stepped into the hotel they couldn't do enough for you. There is nowhere to laze in the sun at the hotel but there is plenty of grass space along the river where you could lie and relax if that was what you wanted to do. Or there is Tugs just across from the hotel where you can sit as long as you like with a beer. It is not as close to Beale Street as some may want but in fifteen minutes you can walk to the tram which costs a dollar each way.
If I were forced to pick a downside (which is difficult) it would be that the staff in the rooftop bar were not as attentive as the rest of the staff but that said we would not have even noticed if it weren't that the rest of the staff couldn't do enough for you.

Room Tip: I would find it hard to believe that there would be a bad room. There is barely any noise around th...

Stayed for 3 nights and wish it had been more. Staff were exceptional, accommodation excellent and two very good restaurants. A little way out of the city but that's just being picky ! Can't wait to go back.

1) Tiny room
2) Old and very noisy AC (the front desk was unable to tell us how to slow down the AC fan !)
3) Kind waiter but service bellow expectation (breakfast : missing plates, dirty glass and we had to wait a very long time just for the order)

As a conclusion, our experience did not match the comments we read before on Tripadvisor !

We stayed here for 3 nights on a tour of the southern USA. The hotel is located in Harbor Town on an island in the Mississippi which must be one of the nicest parts of Memphis. The hotel is right opposite the water, and strolling along the riverbank in the afternoon/evening sunshine was a beautiful treat.
We could not fault anything, really. The room was well appointed and comfortable. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast in the hotel restaurant, Paulettes, was excellent (in fact we had 2 very nice dinners there too).
If there was any criticism (and this is really only minor), it is that it would have been great to able to have a cup of tea in the evening. During the day, coffee and hot water are provided in the small library on each floor but these are taken away in the early evening and not replaced. I have to say that we missed our nightly ritual of a cup of tea before bed!
If you are ever in Memphis, I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough as a place to stay.
