Loved this hotel. Superior customer service! Front desk staff were very friendly. I really appreciated the complimentary Chardonnay at check in since I'd been traveling all day. The room was clean and comfortable with a lovely view of the Mississippi. The library in the corridor provided entertainment for my 9 year old. Surrounding neighborhood was cute. Complimentary breakfast was delightful. Service was great and packed full of southern charm. I wish I could have stayed longer!

My husband and I spent two nights here and loved it! Lovely room, great view of the Mississippi river, incredible breakfast and even chocolate and port at bedtime. We highly recommend.

First impressions on arrival were disappointing. The small lobby is dark and a dirty threadbare rug on the floor did not make it feel very welcoming. This just proves how you should never go on fist impressions. There was a problem with our booking on arrival but Ian was quick to sort this for us and was professional and efficient in his management of a difficult situation. For the inconvenience they very kindly upgraded us to a suite which was a very large room overlooking the mighty mississippi. It was fabulous. The location is about 10 minutes taxi ride out of the city (10 dollars), in a beautiful and relatively safe residential area. For us it was quite nice to be able to have a busy day sightseeing but escape to a peaceful haven. Paulettes restaurant at the hotel serves the best food we have had in the u.s and breakfast is included for all guests at the hotel.

If you want the convenience of being only a few steps from all the attractions and nightlife of the city then this is not the hotel for you, you should stay downtown near to Beale Street. However if you want a beautiful small boutique hotel with a home from home feel in a lovely location right on the mississippi then you should definitely stay here. It would be my choice every time. We did not want to leave!
A piece of advice which may help your decision Memphis is a very dangerous place to be at night and during the week everywhere closes early and hotels lock their doors for safety, so you would not want to be walking the streets at night. Never the less if you are sensible and heed the advice given it is a very interesting city and Beale street is a fun place with great music and bars.

Close to downtown Memphis (a short walk and trolley ride), on the river, 4-poster beds and good-sized rooms, an excellent restaurant (breakfast, lunch and dinner), and friendly, attentive service from all involved.

A great find/

We treated ourselves to two nice hotels on our recent 2 week trip along the Mississippi River, the River Inn being one of them. We were not disappointed! The rooms are beautiful, the service outstanding and the breakfast that is included is wonderful! We asked for a river view room which we were provided. Since this was our first time in the area it was great to see the barges moving along the river.

The hotel is in a quiet area not too far from downtown and Beale street, but far enough. It is a very walkable area and trolleys to town run nearby. Taxis seemed plentiful.

Highly recommend!

Room Tip: Ask for a river view

We stayed for 3 nights, and were upgraded to a beautiful double aspect room with river view. The hotel is located a little way from the centre (about a $12 cab ride), in a very smart and safe area with lovely walks, easy parking (behind and in front of the hotel), an excellent local grocery store and small shops/services. The staff were all charming and the breakfast at Paulette's was excellent. We also ate at their casual dining restaurant adjacent to the hotel, which was also good. It is very difficult to fault.

Room Tip: Specify if you want a river view - not all rooms do.
