“The Flying Fish Restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 20, 2013

At the Flying Fish restaurant, you walk in the door, look up at the big menu on the wall, place your order at a window, then find your own table and wait for the buzzer to signal your meal is ready for pickup. The atmosphere is very casual and comfortable, with plenty of seating capacity. Best of all is the quality and choice of food, for a great price. You can enjoy a delicious plate of grilled catfish and squash with red beans and rice, for only $10. Or how about a salad garnished with a nice, juicy fillet of salmon for the same price? Other evidence of being a down-home southern restaurant is their fried okra, or frogs legs. Excellent as a family restaurant, or as a retreat among buddies. Nice location - 2nd St in dowtown Memphis, a few blocks north of Beale St. It is one of my favorite places to return to each year with out of town visitors - a perfect way to introduce Memphis.

“locals eat here - great food and atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2013

We stumbled onto flying fish and opted for an early dinner here based on the queue to the door. Great food - both grilled and fried meals were delicious. Love the fried catfish. Good selection of beer too. The food is cooked immediately and your buzzer can alert you to collect it within 10 minutes of sitting. Don't come if you don't eat seafood and be prepared to queue with locals. Lots of fun.

“Awesome!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2013 via mobile

Last Friday a group of friends and I started a triple bachelor party at The Flying Fish. It was great!! I ordered catfish and oysters with a draught beer. It was perfect in every way. I will never go to Memphis, pr Little Rock for that matter, without hitting the Flying Fish!

“Good for a quick fried snack and a beer”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2013

Fun establishment with lots of fried seafood. Order at the counter and seat yourself, pretty much self serve. The oysters were good, the fried fish was good, and the beer selection was decent. Its fun for a quick snack, or some oysters, etc. Great decor!!
